Virginia Killer's Violent Writings Play told of pedophilic stepfather, murder of 13-year-old boy
APRIL 17--The college student responsible for yesterday's Virginia Tech slaughter was referred last year to counseling after professors became concerned about the violent nature of his writings, as evidenced in a one-act play obtained by The Smoking Gun. The play by Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old English major, was submitted last year as part of a short story writing class. Entitled "Richard McBeef," Cho's bizarre play features a 13-year-old boy who accuses his stepfather of pedophilia and murdering his father.

I wrote a short story my first year of high school that was written from the point of view of a serial killer - and, not to blow my own horn, but even that had more stylistic competence and literary merit than this thing Seung Cho wrote.
My guess is that Cho was influenced by the case of Gang Lu, the physics grad student who killed five faculty members in 1991. This incident was the subject of a recent indie film starring Merryl Streep and was related in a NY Times article less than one month ago.
As an English major and amateur playwright he probably followed indie movies and may have read this article. There are some chilling similarities.
And we used to play “cowboys and indians” with cap guns. We probably would be accused of terrorist training for doing that today. Neurotic!!!!
Yeah, just ask Senator Jim Webb, D-VA, how much your writing reflects your frame of thinking. In fact, that may have been the inspiration for young Cho’s writing.
Question - is there any relationship between Margaret Cho, and this younger Cho? Margaret Cho was in a movie “Assassin” in 2005.
A LOT of misfits seems to have needed some counseling.
A terrible piece of writing revealing a pre-pubescent personality with a serious Oedipus complex. Hates men, hates himself.
He’s a very very bad writer.

On November 15, 2006, The Wall Street Journal published an article by Webb entitled "Class Struggle." Webb argued that the government must "confront the growing unfairness in this age of globalization*
OK, so what is it about this week in April that causes so many to go nuts?
Waco followed by McVeigh, Columbine, others...
Could it be April 15th?
“and that he left a note in his dorm in which he railed against ‘rich kids,’ ‘debauchery’ and ‘deceitful charlatans’ on campus.”
Oh, dear GOD.
Is that really the note the DBM are hoping to strike with this thing? That the shooter was a nutty right-wing loner lashing out at left-wing elitism and permissiveness? Or maybe that’s just my own paranoisa cranking up again...
Grade 8? Try Grade 2, granted a Grade 2 who has been exposed to some highly inappropriate stuff, but omg. I’m actually in pain reading this its so terrible.
Just what I was thinking!! Handgun illegalities, violent writings, dislike for the rich.
Yep, passes all the tests of great literature by the reckoning of most English departments today.
Why didn’t VT connect the dots? /extreme sarcasm
Railing against the rich makes him sound like a liberal.
Virginia definitely has its share of crazies. Fortunately, most states don’t have one of them representing them in the Senate.
Yep, and Gang Lu also had two guns on him, during the shootings.
Pretty bad writer.
