The entire nation will now collectively mourn one of the great tragedies one can endure: the death of so many of our children.
But a detailed analysis of the facts will also be ongoing. There are many questions from all observers.
It just seems to me, when law enforcement finds two dead bodies on a sleepy university campus in the 7 A.M. hour: they immediately should slam the “Red Alert” button. Yesterday there were some lame remarks about getting out an email (two hours late) and that there wasn’t time to get the word to both lock down the campus and stop the influx of tens of thousands of commuters.
They don’t have radio and TV in Blacksburg, Virginia? If at 7 A.M. a tornado was announced heading for that campus, what would have happen? How about a snowstorm? We had high winds in Washington D.C. this week and the schools were closed three hours early. It was on every radio and TV station in seconds. With that huge force of law enforcement, a good police commander could have closed every road into that campus in no time.
They got radios, cars and flashing lights, don’t they?
Did anyone notice that a bunch of those law enforcement offers were, ahem, chubby?
Law enforcement at Virginia Tech didn’t save one life. They didn’t waste one bullet doing it either. Somebody should be ashamed: law enforcement didn’t fire a shot. The only shooter on that campus got tired after all the mayhem he made.
If my kids name was killed in the classroom after 9 A.M. I am one angry parent.
When is the last time law enforcement found two dead students, murdered students, on that campus during the 7 A.M. hour?

One kid on TV today said that he and two others barricaded a door while others chatted to the police on 911. Kids today don't seem to understand that the police cannot protect you. You have to protect yourself until the calvary rides in to take control of the situation.
I agree with your comments, but have one question..watching the various pressers yesterday, I was somewhat surprised to see the Chief of the VT police being the point person for the discussion. Not denigrating him, or his abilities, but in what will be one of the largest criminal investigations EVER int his country, I’d expect to see the head of the VA state police,or the FBI SAC, or someone else with more clout up there...are they hopefully doing their work behind the scenes, or just ducking and putting this guy up as the media target?
There apparantly was absolutely no plan to deal with emergencies in a responsible and professional manner. Even the campus cops had no guns.
They didn't need ESP to know they had not apprehended the gunman.
I totally agree with your post with one exception: If I were a parent of one of the murdered kids, I would feel entirely different.
So would all of us.
Since VT had just gone through the "shooter loose on campus" thing earlier in the school year it's absolutely unfathomable why they didn't react to this at all. You'd think they would have been sensitized.

Well, then, they COULD have told all the students and nearby community to gather in gun-free zones for safety.
Oh, wait, the murders happened in a gun-free zone.
Well, then, they COULD have evacuated the campus. Maybe have everyone meet at the local McDonald’s. No murders ever happen there.
There are things going on we are not being told. One of them, Fur Shur, is a series of serious meetings between the President of the University and high-powered lawyers ~ the topic is how many tens of millions this is going to cost the university.

true... however, i'm surprised that the initial murders did not seem like a big deal... two people shot to death in a dorm... to me that's big... but the "university's" reaction to the first shootings seemed layed back.. like everything was normal... and then there was the guy who said he called the university when he got to campus and saw police activity... and he was told there was shooting and to go to class cautiously... and said, "no way!" and got out of there... go to class cautiously?

Judging from this “article” you’re also quick to yell “I’ll call my attorney” when finding a hair in your soup at the deli. This “article” should have been pulled and completely ignored.
In an effort to learn from the past, not hang the VA security people: consider if that had been done. Students may have been more vigilant, some may have chosen to pack, even though it was "against the rules, and some may have chosen to stay home.
All one can do in these situations is learn from them.

Sounds like you have been watching too much MSM coverage. This, “should have been informed sooner”, is the story that all the TV news reporters were going with yesterday.
The officers of that campus and law enforcment of that campus will probably turn out to be the most vigilant in the country. People learn from these events. This could have happened in any public school in the country.
