Heads Must Roll At Virginia Tech ...(assumed domestic violence ???)
Peace and Freedom ^ | April 17, 2007 | John E. Carey

The entire nation will now collectively mourn one of the great tragedies one can endure: the death of so many of our children.

But a detailed analysis of the facts will also be ongoing. There are many questions from all observers.

It just seems to me, when law enforcement finds two dead bodies on a sleepy university campus in the 7 A.M. hour: they immediately should slam the “Red Alert” button. Yesterday there were some lame remarks about getting out an email (two hours late) and that there wasn’t time to get the word to both lock down the campus and stop the influx of tens of thousands of commuters.

They don’t have radio and TV in Blacksburg, Virginia? If at 7 A.M. a tornado was announced heading for that campus, what would have happen? How about a snowstorm? We had high winds in Washington D.C. this week and the schools were closed three hours early. It was on every radio and TV station in seconds. With that huge force of law enforcement, a good police commander could have closed every road into that campus in no time.

They got radios, cars and flashing lights, don’t they?

Did anyone notice that a bunch of those law enforcement offers were, ahem, chubby?

Law enforcement at Virginia Tech didn’t save one life. They didn’t waste one bullet doing it either. Somebody should be ashamed: law enforcement didn’t fire a shot. The only shooter on that campus got tired after all the mayhem he made.

If my kids name was killed in the classroom after 9 A.M. I am one angry parent.

When is the last time law enforcement found two dead students, murdered students, on that campus during the 7 A.M. hour?

Go dance in the streets, you sound like a person who just doesn’t care. Are you one of those liberals who say oh ignore it and it will go away? They just announced they are putting cameras in another one of our colleges in my area. Also in our Jr. college they are already there. Nobody complained and they have been there for years. The students I think are glad they are up. I would rather see kids alive and happy, not the terror these kids are going to have to live with for the rest of their lives.if you cannot imagine what these kids are going to go through. The pain they feel does not end with the mass. I want the kids in our colleges and universities to be safe and have a wonderful college university life . What is wrong with that? The Janet Reno justice theory , we tried that, they did it again. if nothing comes out of this, someone will try it again. How many kids do we have to put in danger in order to call security. One more death is too much for me.

Your post sounds like that guy that did all of the shooting.

People are stalking you! People hate you! WOW!!

I guess the thought police who are so determined to eliminate crime should look in your head to see if you are going to be the next to go bonkers.

Do you have any guns?

Somebody should really do something about you.

Stalker?

Hmmm. Not sure about that.

DREADED? No doubt about that.

That tag line makes sense.

I love these sillies about how security cameras would have resolved the case earlier, before anyone else got killed.

It has been reported that there were 900 students in that building.

Anyone who ever attended a large university knows that at beginning at 10 minutes to the hour and for that 10 minutes, thousands of people rush madly from one class to another or from their dorm to class.

Or to breakfast if not to class.

Or back from breakfast to get ready for the next class.

Or whatever.

So all the cops would have had to do is look at 700 to 900 pictures, identify each and every picture and put it with a person’s name and ID and then determine whether that person had legit reason to be in that building. So they would have to sort out those meeting a friend to jog, tutor, get tutoring, or whatever.

In less than two hours.

With a total of 74 cops who are also supposed to “secure” the area.

That certainly is a well thought out plan.

All you need to make it work is about 2,000 National Guard, the State Police.

And don’t forget the black helicopter with the infrared.

I can not believe some of the stuff that is being said here

Work has torn me away from this most of today, and has given me time to reflect.

I am sickened at the constant blaming of my fellow Ameericans, and our intitutions. I expect such 'chic' behavior from liberals; but I cannot believe some of the stuff that is being said here.

To hear such knee-jerk, ignorant blaming of fellow Americans right here at FreeRepublic really takes me aback.

Look, I never referred to the “red button” at all. Rather, my concern is that the enormity of discovering two dead people full of bullets in a dormitory at an otherwise peaceful campus is enormous.

The people responsible for the university are Liberals or appointed by one of the two Liberal Democrat governors of Virginia ~ Mark Warner or Tim Kaine.

Since Liberals always blame Conservatives, Republicans or the entirity of "a sick society" first, seems to me it's not at all unseemly to toss it back at them, particularly when they decided to make sure the students, faculty and staff at VT were unarmed, known to be unarmed, and totally defenseless against madmen or terrorists.

Rush Limbaugh didn't have a chance to talk this over with me first so whatever it is he said should be ignored in this case.

You should be highly alarmed with the fact that many Democrats sought to run Mark Warner for President ~ now you find out about the low quality of the people he appoints to positions of responsibility in Virginia.

Not all schools mix and match in the dorms. A more typical situation is the male floor/female floor sort of thing, and in some cases it will be alternating male and female units in the same quadrangle, with the Freshmen being held to the strictest standard of separation.

Turns out the shooter probably wasn't the young lady's boyfriend ~ just her stalker ~ as were a whole big bunch of other girls.

I agree.

But then look at it another way. Real planners learn to look for the flaws in their own plans. So pretending that we are going to lock down or secure an area, we then start looking for all of the flaws.

At that point, we should realize that we should sympathize with the cops and the administration, who are having the worst week in their entire lives. Not as bad as those who lost family, but almost as bad. And I would bet that in a university community, many of the administrators who are being asked for their heads also lost close friends and colleagues, so their sense of loss is as real and the Mom’s and Dad’s.

The fact was, with co-ed dorms, it is not an unusual situation to see men walking around in the dorms. It doesn't raise any suspicion. I can't see that as a safe situation for college aged girls.

What we always have to remember about diversionary tactics is that they work quite well if the diversion is sufficiently vile.

For instance, blow up a building to hide the fact you are actually planning to blow up major authorities; shoot a teenage girl to divert the police momentarily while you prepare to kill 30 other people.

Knowing this, we should not ever depend on the police for all of our security needs. Individuals need to tend to their own needs first, and the mailed fascist fist should not be used to disarm them.

I don’t know if we can necessarily lay blame on campus security as it’s pretty clear that this college was in the boonies and they had no reason to expect such a crime. They suffered from a lack of experience and, while I find fault with at least one decision, I think it should be looked at as a “lessons learned” case than anything else. This was a first experience for likely everyone there.

The lesson to be learned, in my mind, is to not assume the whereabouts of a perp. I don’t have a problem with not locking the school down as they simply didn’t have the numbers to pull it off, nor do I have a problem with assuming it was a domestic case. I do have a problem, though, with assuming that the killer had left the campus. For a murder-suicide you need a weapon present, which there was none. So assuming that the first two people were murdered by a third, there should need to be a clear indication that the killer was *not* on the campus before making that call. If the killer isn’t right there at the scene, the call needs to be “we don’t know where the killer is”, which includes the campus. That’s the lesson to be learned, in my mind, and it should be taken into account in future training. Fingers shouldn’t be pointed and suits shouldn’t be filed — lessons need to be learned.

Hmmm~since such identification systems, operating with very high speed, are being designed as we post, might not be a bad idea ~ if your only complaint is that ordinary humans aren’t speedy enough to resolve such questions.

The cops are not omnipotent. Nor did they have any reason to suspect a shooting rampage 2 hours later.

When they went to the initial murder/shooting scene there was no gun. That would mean no murder/suicide and would mean the murderer was still on the loose, with a gun.

When people are found shot to death, especially in a school environment, that should be more than enough cause for alarm.

I understood that.

I don’t tag. I am no Edgar Allan Poe, but if he could write the stuff he wrote without tags, surely people can make out when I am being serious and not.

And if they can’t, more fun.
