With the serial numbers "obliterated", supposedly. Can your average nutball do that, I wonder? Eradicate the serial numbers to the point they can't be recovered in a lab?
To the 2% (26 million) Islamic population of China in perspective:
North Korea population 23 million
Iraq population 26 million
Afghanistan population 31 million
Right. He sent the video to American media, is known by name, but is now invisible.
What exactly was he signaling to his "masters"?
Don't they get CNN International?
Let's get totally paranoid and irrational because it's fun.
I’m hearing rumors that the police are worried there were multiple gunman and they are trying to piece everything back together. They have differing descriptions about the look of the gunman
Tin foil hat time.
My cell phone will do video. Had I been on the scene, I would probably have recorded it.
And I am NOT a terrorist. Give the guy a break.
there hasnt been enough time to run anything through a lab, geesh.
But I agree, the removal of the SN would suggest purchasing something off the street.
The pistols being 9mm and 22cal suggest they were not purchased to commit mass murder though. Those are not the weapons of choice for a terrorist.
A Navy Vet, you just read my mind.
I work at a school and many staff members have been complaining for years that we and the children are sitting ducks for nuts and/or terrorists. We don’t even have a police officer on campus. After the Beslan massacre, it really scared us. But nothing has been done for any tighter security.....
However much it scares you, 18-25 year olds are adults and should be accorded the same rights and respect as any adult.
Don’t shoot the messenger :) Then how would the person reporting know that the numbers had been obliterated? Just bad reportage maybe?
I was on the faculty at VT for 13 years before moving to WVU a couple of years ago.
This link gives a high detail campus map that shows about 120 major buildings in the central part of the main campus:
http://www.vt.edu/where_we_are/maps/documents/vt_main_map.pdf
This does not include the many small buildings (houses converted to offices near campus, greenhouses), the scores of buildings on the adjacent research farms, the 25 or so large buildings in the adjacent research park, or the dozens of lab buildings in outlying areas. It’s a big place and there’s no way that security personnel could instally secure every part of campus.
I saw that today. I hate to be a tin foil hatter, but, something is amiss.
I’m a faculty advisor for a group on campus and I am hearing bad news about one of our members.
But I have heard a few news sites say “bullet proof vest”. Not they they are any more accurate than us right now.
Touche!
This is not about “respecting” the rights of 18-25 year olds. It is about not turning our public places into very scary places.
Nobody has a right to carry a firearm in certain places, even here in Texas where concealed carry laws are pretty liberal. That includes schools and churches, and I like it that way.
There is a time and a place for everything, and arming college students is just a nutty idea.
“So why did he call in the bomb threats to check security, chain the doors, have a flak jacket and file the numbers off the guns. This was not a jilted Chinese student. This was planned to the last detail.”
I agree. And I am thinking this WAS a terrorist attack.
The doors that were locked were the front doors to the hall that he shot up. He put chains on two doors to keep the police out and the students in. This was well planned.
Pray for W and Va Tech
