Gunman on Campus; Stay inside your building, away from windows; Shooting incident at West Ambler Johnston Hall

Seems to me the jihadists out there usually scream "Allah Akbar!" or such drivel while they are killing innocents, doesn't seem to be the case here (yet).
Hmm, fishy yes, but I don’t think I would do much talking to the Press if I saw that kind of carnage against the innocent (that being said, I would have been armed and proactive).
I don't know about you, but I would want to see when somebody is either addressing me or referring to me.
Yep, SirKit is a Statistician, though these days, he’s unemployed, through his own choice. It’s more like a sabbatical because he’s working on some Math research he’s been noodling about on and off for the last 20 years. We’re also in the process of remodeling our home to sell so we can move back home to MS.

Emergency volunteers were just interviewed on NBC Nightly News and said that one year ago they planned for a mass casualty gun attack. So they had planned for just such an incident.

The blood is on the hands of the VA state legislature that banned CCW on college campuses...
Yes you can, by calling on State police and the local town police.
Are you saying that 21 year olds are juveniles??? Excuse me, but 21 yo is an ADULT!
The definition of terrorism would be based on motive rather than religion.
Terrorism is defined as the unlawful use of force and violence against persons and property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

The "girlfriend" story sounds like a "cover", to me.
Unknown at this point is whether there was more than 1 shooter. Were I in charge? Like bloody hell, I'd go on tape announcing there were other shooters live and on the lose in the community, in another state, etc. I'd be collecting evidence and following tracks.
I'm not trying to be light on this score; but what if the shooter's name happened to be "Ho". No id, no face on the alleged perp.
Ho is an actual family name in Vietnam.
Not only that, but there are large numbers of "non-traditional" (read: older) students, lots of ex-mil, along with grad students.
I carried illegally when I taught as a grad student on an urban univ. campus. It's one thing to trust your employer to insure your safety in a private business with (somewhat) controlled access to the premises. Colleges are wide open and have unmanageable human traffic patterns.
By all accounts this guy was suicidal over his girlfriend.
That place is 4x’s bigger than our nearest town..Can’t secure something like that,,just arm it..
The question to be raised it how many of those students arrived for class after the first shooting, and were shot. You can certainly turn away traffic at the entrances, and use email / phone tree technology to inform people in short order that something is amiss.
If you were a witness in this situation, would you rather talk first to the police or the press?
I would probably slap the reporter who shoved a mic in my face.
1. In 2006, the VA administration managed to whip up enough support in the state house to shoot down a bill that would allow properly licensed and trained students to carry concealed weapons on the VA Tech campus. In Virginia, carrying a concealed firearm is lawful on campus... With the sole exception being state-owned VA Tech. Now look what's happened: Students were sitting ducks with no means to resist being killed. Again, well-meaning gun control fuels the greatest school massacre in modern US history.
2. The police response time was two hours between the first shooting and the second spree. No students were notified by campus email. The only indication to most students that there was a dangerous situation on campus was when they encountered the gunman shooting at them even though he'd been killing students for over two hours.
I am sorry, but I am not going to cut the VA Tech authorities any slack for a situation that they partially created just because they're feeling sad at the moment. Since when does grief negate responsibility?
Someone should check and see how much homeland security money has been spent on this college. Would be interesting to know whether or not they had a real plan for an event like this and how much money has been spent at the school in the last five or six years.
