I hope your daughter stays safe and has the ability to make her own decisions regarding self defense, unencumbered by bigots that would deny her right to do so, with unwarranted and unjustified claims, such as, that she was irresponsible, incapable of handling the situation, paranoid, or otherwise some form of bloodthirsty person, ect...
" I said well armed and well trained."
Doesn't matter. I've been with well armed and well trained cops that have testified before the legislature to protect and defend the rights of citizens to defend themselves. The fundamental point to be made is that they can not be everywhere at once, and most likely will not get there in time to do anything other than to count bodies, assess the damage and to otherwise investigate.
When it comes to mass murder of innocents, always bet on "Mohammad", and you will probably win more than 50% of the time.
...better odds than Vegas.
The student charged in the June 2006 planting of a bomb in an off-campus apartment complex was not named Mohammed/Muhammed.
Muhammed was his roommate.
RA is Resident Assistant or Resident Advisor - college dorms have them, they’re usually upperclassmen, the “go to” person for students living in the dorm. At least that’s what they were when I was a student at Penn State. They kept the “rules” or policy of the dorm (no underage drinking parties, etc., enforced the study or quiet hours, etc.).
Multiple first hand reports that the shooter was Asian. In general usage (college age kids) Asian is Chinese-Korean-Vietnamese, NOT Lebanese or Iranian even though these places are in Asia.
I think it was an Asian kid, based on these first hand accounts, and so suspect SJS is not the cause.
RA = Resident Assistant—An older student who gets at least room (maybe board?) to sort of be the manager of the dorm. A thankless job by all accounts.
susie
Thud!
It sounded like the green shirt student was saying he saw the injured student tossed into the SUV, which left the area quickly, no doubt to an ambulance or a hospital.
What about the Utah Mall shooter? Did we find out about him?
A TV guru
said we have to watch out for
people who always
study and study
their Soldier Of Fortune mags . . .
You know, warning signs . . .
Kid blew him self up on a bench outside an Oklahoma Football game. Had a suicide vest on and was known to be associated with jihadist in Oklahoma City. Large thread on FR at the time.
FBI investigated and declare, not2worry, the kid was just a disturbed loner.
When I was in college, an R/A was a graduate student who looked over the floor of a dorm, in exchange for pay or rent.
residence assistant
I was pretty obvious.
Some people are just willfully dense.
Unless Norris under went major renovation, I remember it from classes as old, very plain and the corridors relatively long narrow with not as much egress as you would find in the newer buildings. I think the shooter planned this out and knew that an old building like Norris would give him an upper hand.
When I first heard Norris Hall mentioned, I wondered if he did not open fire in the auditorium; what we fondly called “the cliffs of Norris.” It was narrow and one of the steepest auditoriums I can remember being in. With the limited aisle space and steepness, getting out quickly or hiding would have been impossible.
Look this idea of a lock down is good in theory, but VT is kind of spread out and most students do not live on campus. People are coming and going every minute. You can enter it from so many points and there are not fences and guard shacks at the entrances. The campus comes right up to the edge of town. There is a sense of openness and that’s what makes it a nice campus. Yes, you can cancel classes and send out the word on the Internet, radio and whatever but actually locking things down? It might take hours unless there was some kind of audible alert system in place. It’s easy to second guess the police now.
I think mistakes were probably made, but let’s all give the Campus Police a break and wait for the facts. They’ll own up to their mistakes, I feel confident of that.
Right now, let’s concentrate on praying for all that have been touched by this.
Right. ScreamingFist is a NRA Benefactor member and two issue voter, RKBA and Freedom of speech....and a poster of DCB's age knows that well, so knock off the BS....
