Speaking of Columbine, that TOO was in April. April 20, 1999. The anniversary is this Friday.

Expounding on my theory that the 1st killing at 7:15AM was a decoy.....

Listening to FOXNEWS right now, there's a conversation that at 7:15AM most are still in their dorms getting dressed, etc..

Since the shooter wasn't carrying a long barrel rifle, it would be simple to murder the person and then dissolve into the crowd.

I am convinced the shootings that began almost 3 hours later were the REAL intent and because there was virtually no LEO's on that side of the campus, the shooter(s) could be deliberate and take their time carrying out their monstrosity.

The right to self defense is a right given by the Creator and the Constitution therefore does not bestow it but merely reiterates it.

Katie Couric’s arrival makes this an official crisis. /sarcasm

Could be awhile before even the cable networks get back to regular programming. I can't imagine there being an O'Reilly Factor tonight. No way. Probably just continuing live coverage over the next day or two.

young “Asian” male

Afghans, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Indonesians (largest population of Muslims in the world) and the Moros of the Philippines are all (more or less) Asians. The latter two would be ID'd as "Asian" by most.

Hard to say what the gunman did, but it’s hard to imagine he hadn’t already planned something.

I was just teasing - I heard that from someone once, who was making fun or Europeans. Thought it was funny :)

When I saw the first plane hit the tower, the first thing I said to the wife, I wonder why the people on the plane allowed that to happen. They had a one inch knife, a one inch knife. If people were taught to defend and not hide, it might not have happened the way it did. The argument against arming pilots is proof enough of what is wrong in American society.

I return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

“I don’t think there is any evidence which shows that non-Flight 93 passengers had any idea that what was going on was anything but a “normal” hijacking. They had no idea that they were about to be used as missiles.”

***

And the other thing is that many people are slow to react...or even paralyzed in a dangerous situation. Everyone reacts differently (or they can’t react at all). I always tell people that’s why I never owned a gun. I’d probably be too slow to use it, or I’d shoot myself in the foot. But anyway, it’s not fair to compare the Flight 93 passengers with those on the other planes. Or to berate anyone for not stopping this morning’s shooter.

“So why was the first lockdown rescinded? Was someone in custody other than the person who later shot up the computer lab?”

I don’t know and have been wondering the same since all of this broke.

Doesn’t make sense.

You’re right about the nature of the campi being different, but I think sometimes the whole nature of the place has to be considered.

“If the person is 18 they right to own and possess a rifle, should not be infringed, same with a pistol if they’re over 21.”

Their OWNING is not infringed. Having it on someone else’s property IS. The campus has a right to disallow someone to bring in a gun, just as a house owner or restaurant owner has a right to disallow smoking in their property (but not the government).

As for all this defensiveness about college KIDS (and I emphasize that term), forget it. We were all that age and most of us, including me, were IN college. Spare me the “discrimination” nonsense; we were ALL of that “group”. I have an inkling of what it was like, and that was a while ago. Worse now, and it’s clear if you even watch the news.

Now being reported, this is the deadliest shooting of this type in American history.

The left and the Soros/Brady types will be dancing in the blood in no time. They will demand the usual gun bans and registration, as if that could have prevented this tragedy. And if Bush and the Republicans somehow have the spine to deny them, they will use this to trash what is left of the Republican image. Lose/lose, not to mention the tragedy in loss of innocent life.

Civilian CCW would not have stopped the first shooting? Perhaps, but it might have stopped it by the second or third.

Second or third room ... I don't think it would have prevented carnage in the first.

Weapons would *not* have been in backpacks (you obviously know little about CCW),

LOL! Nothing like a gratuitous insult to make a poor point. You may simply have forgotten that we're talking about college students here. A CCW in a holster would be in the way and/or uncomfortable in an auditorium seat -- the "CCW location of choice" would most likely have been in backpacks. Assuming, of course, that the students took CCW seriously enough to be packing in the first place.

What if he killed his girlfriend to get rid of witnesses to his religious background? We can bet the Drivebys will keep his religion a secret as long as possible if Mooselip.

Apparently, someone forgot to tell that to the State of Washington out here.
