Conservatives should abort Rudy's bid

While there obviously are pro-choice Republicans around, the GOP generally ranks as the pro-life party due to its presumed conservative roots. Conservatism sees intrinsic value in each individual - no matter the person's stage of development - and defends his or her right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Therefore, opposition to abortion serves as a conservative policy pillar.

But what about all that conservative talk in favor of individual choice and against government interfering in people's lives? Those conservative principles still stand tall, but abortion is no mere personal choice. The line must be drawn against snuffing out innocent human life. The first job of government is to protect such life.

Unfortunately, some New York Republicans have been anything but pro-life conservatives. That includes former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who not only seeks the Republican nod for president but has led the race in recent polls.

Based on his record running for and serving as mayor, it's fair to say Giuliani was not just pro-choice, but pro-abortion. He supported government funding of abortion, opposed a ban on the partial-birth abortion procedure and objected to parental notification before a minor could get an abortion.

And in April 2001 Giuliani sealed his pro-abortion credentials by speaking at the radical National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League's (NARAL) "Champions of Choice" lunch. He said it was "an honor to be here."

Me either. I am not voting for a liberal, abortion supporting, cross-dressing, NY yankee.

If 2008 came down to a choice between Her Thighness, Hillary Clinton, or Rudy, how would you choose? I’m not saying to answer now, but this may eventually be the reality of the situation.

If conservatives don't lie down and play dead, this scenario can be easily avoided.

Considering that Rudie shares most all of the same positions as Hillary, It's almost a coin flip. That's about what the polls confirm.

If the choice comes down to Hillary or Rudy it tells me that we, as a nation, are in serious trouble. I don’t believe it will come to that. If we conservatives don’t have enough influence in the Republican Party to see to it that a conservative is nominated then we deserve all we get. In a worse case, if it comes down to a choice between those two then I will stay home.

There is a reason the buzz today is about Fred Thompson, and not Rudy McRomney.

There is no chance at all I’ll support Romney, or McCain, or Guiliani as things stand today.

If the GOP insists on ignoring the base, as they did from the moment of President Bush’s second Inaugural, 08 will be worse for the Republican Party than 06 was.

A vote for Rooty in the primary is a vote for the Rats in the general.

Gun owners and values voters wont vote for that liberal puke.

Although I wouldnt vote for Rudy in this field of presidential hopefuls, Rudy doing a skit in a dress wouldnt even come into the equation for not voting for him. He has done so much more good than a dress could ever cover up. That would be like not voting for someone because he was in a movie with a monkey.

Let's burn that bridge if we come to it. Until that time (which may very well never happen), our job as conservatives is to ensure that the best possible conservative candidate wins the GOP primary. And that ain't Guiliani, not by a long shot.

If you go third party, then Her Thighness wins.
