tag team agitators would think of ol’David Allen Coe’s

Hmmmmm..........you must be a good-guy. I have been a David Allen Coe fan since 1974. Got most of the music...and I have memories of his appearances at the old Texas Opry House in Houston Texas in I believe 1975...76...77.....too much beer....can't remember....

Over at Inside Cable News they are reporting that her book tour has been cancelled. She has to be furious.

I agree. Imus made a big mistake in groveling on the Al Sharpton show.

He should have just said, joking, didn’t mean to offend, but move on along, I can say what I want.

Basically that’s what Rush did. He did not apologize but he did defend his remarks. Of course, he lost his gig anyway because the Black guy on the panel refused to work with him (and that was only after he heard from some brothers)

Actually Sharpton was pretty restrained compared to what I heard Jesse Jackson say on Keith Olbermann.

First of all...KO said that now that MSNBC had fired Imus, HE can now come out and say that HE told the NBC management to fire IMUS...LOL

He then went on to show pictures of Rush, Glenn Beck, BOR and others..and said to Jesse that he needs to go after ALL of the talk show hosts that had used racist and demeaning comments.

BUT, after Jesse agreed with him....KO had to hear Jesse say that ‘they’ have a meeting in the morning with NBC...and “they” will tell NBC that they demand more black people as talk show hosts, reporters, producers...ETC!!!

LOLOLOLOL...but, KO kept kissing Jesse’s butt..because he said, “you know Jesse..whenever I am on vacation I have a black woman as my substitute!”

LOL..IOW, KO suddenly got a WEE bit afraid that he was gonna get shoved out by a black person because of IMUS, who he told management to FIRE!!!

Ya can’t make this stuff up!

Oh, maybe it was Jesse Jackson?

I wouldn't give him that much credit. He's been too busy being in front of the camera, spewing his usual "whitey is a racist" tripe and turning a blind eye towards rap music, merely acknowledging that it's free speech.

Olberman has never said anything remotely amusing. He should be fired for being a jerk.

Then I guess I’m in good company if Ann Coulter hung him out to dry. It was sure giving me the willies to think I was in agreement with Sharpton.

I’ve now had a little more time to read more of the comments on this thread so have a couple of more observations.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Just because Rosie O’Donnell rates lower than whale poop in my book doesn’t excuse what Imus said. He was wrong.

Free speech was not stifled. Imus said it, it was broadcast and just like most free speech, there are consequences. He wasn’t arrested and the government had nothing to do with the consequences he’s now getting to enjoy.

(Sorry if it sounds like I’m going off on you since that’s not my intent at all. I just get tired of some people making excuses or giving someone a pass.)

I agree with Ann, these young women are off limits. They aren’t political and they didn’t deserve to be made a target by anyone other than their competitor on the field. Heck, I’m not even sure making fun of Sharpton by calling him a nappy headed whatever would be okay. Make fun of the guy because he’s an idiot or because he lies or because he’s a Reverend in name only. Let’s leave physical characteristics we’re born with completely out of it. I’m not less than because I have green eyes or because I’m short or have freckles. I sure as heck can qualify for being less than though when I do or say something incredibly stupid and then I deserve it but not because of some physical attribute I have.

OK.../rant again!

Are you talking about the Johnnie Reb songs that I heard on Stern’s show years ago? Was that DAC?

Uhhh, no where did I say he was amusing, I'm saying I found it amusing he had to cite Media Matters for his quotes. Capice?

Olbermann only gets press when he picks a feud with someone people have actually heard of.

He tried it with O’Reilly. That worked for a while.

Now apparently, he thinks he can try something with Rush.

I’m thinkin’ not.

I heard Imus make an ass out of Kerry, maybe 5 years ago.

First he sucked up to Kerry to get him to open up. (Called him drop-dead handsome, most handsome senator etc..)

Kerry loosened up, let it be known that Teresa was mugged and robbed the day before.

Imus asked him if he should be here, on his show, or with his wife who was just mugged. Kerry had to think about it, and then Imus started laughing at him, mocking him. It was priceless. I knew then and there that Kerry married Teresa for the cash.

I have no idea why this particular incident from a man with a history of irreverence and inappropriateness, is the final straw. I stopped listening to him several years ago but those who act as if he has crossed some new line are silly. And those who think these lines are not crossed daily over cable television are sillier yet.

Last night, on a Fox sports show, they went on and on about why Imus should be fired. They then talked about having him on and throwing a pass at this chest (he has lung disease I believe), joking how he wouldn't catch it and implying that it would hurt or kill him. But I guess that's okay with those in charge of good taste.
