Girly cars vs. Manly cars (Laura Ingraham)
Laura Ingraham radio show ^ | April 9, 2007 | n/a

Posted on 04/09/2007 6:53:58 PM PDT by fkabuckeyesrule

I was listening to the Laura Ingraham radio show today and they were talking about how some cars are girly cars and some are manly cars. Laura was particularly mentioning that the Mazda Miata was a girly car. This was news to me. Her assisitant chimed in with saying the Mazda 3 was a girly car. This was also news to me. I'm in the market for a new car and was thinking of buying the MAzda 3 or a Miata. I've been told that the 3 has fewer service issues than other Mazda cars.

Of course one would gather that the manly cars would be trucks.

One girly car I've noticed is the VW Beetle. I've never seen a man driving one of those.

What do Freepers think? What cars are girly cars and what cars are manly cars.

I remember the old Lotuses. They were basically kit cars. Very hot, fun to drive, but made Fiats look like Toyotas in terms of reliability.

For the record I got a Miata as a courtesy car a few years ago when my pickup was being serviced and it was a hoot to drive. I hadn’t had a sports car for years. It was a beautiful day so I put the top down, turned the radio up and slammed gears all afternoon along some country roads in the area. It may be a girly car, but if driven properly it can be a h*ll of a
lot of fun.

Nice. At a car show I once saw a Bug with a Cadillac engine in it. Engine took up the whole back seat. A friend back in the late ‘70’2 had a Bug with a Porsche engine. He clocked it at Englishtown at just shy of 140 mph.

My thought:

Ah Fiats. One of my friends in high school had a convertible Spider. Lot of fun to drive and cruise in, but that thing was off the road more than it was on. The hunt for replacement parts was endless.

Yep that sounds about right. I became a pretty good mechanic during those years. I was lucky to have two import shops in Indy that carried most things like fan belts, oil filter, air filters, plugs etc.. Never traveled without my toolbox in the trunk. But get me on a curvy country road with the top down and my wife in the seat next to me blonde hair blowing in the breeze and it was a good time.

Didn’t mean to step on anyone’s toes, but the fact is that here in the DC-Baltimore area the Liberty is almost exclusively a woman’s vehicle.

Nope! And I have the flower in the holder. Yeah, I go for the Sixties thing, not because I'm a peacenik liberal but because I like classics. And I love classic cars. So sue a guy for driving a VW New Beetle!

I just happened to look at the temp gage, when I noticed it was in the red.I had to stop a couple of times to put water in it and made it to a friends house.By the time I got there, steam was coming out the tailpipe, and I knew I had smoked the head gasket. When I tore it down,I was relieved that the aluminum head wasn’t warped.Changed the head gasket, water pump and timing belt since I had it take them off to remove the head.A few months later,I slammed into the deer. The air bags did the majority of the damage. The passenger window shattered and the dash blew apart when the air bags activated.

They don't make 'em like I like 'em anylonger...big, old, sturdy and built like a barrel.

sigh...

If anyone has one and would like to donate it to a poor little, old grandma teacher, I'll send you my address.

My brother came across a picture of our dad, fresh from Europe and WWII, leaning against his new (well...to him!) 1940 Chev. My brother dug around a bit and found a hulk that had been sitting in the river, and restored it exactly as in the original picture.

On my mantle I have the two pictures - dad in 1946 and dad in 2006 - leaning against identical silver-gray coupes.

I used to own a Pantera. The damn thing would overheat at stoplights. LOL!

It's pretty girly, but the girliest VWs are the Passat, Jetta, and Rabbit.

Weren’t the Trans Am, the Z-28, and the Firebird known as A55hole cars? This question is NOT to be taken personally at all, but to jog our memories. Thanks.
