Girly cars vs. Manly cars (Laura Ingraham)
Laura Ingraham radio show ^ | April 9, 2007 | n/a

Posted on 04/09/2007 6:53:58 PM PDT by fkabuckeyesrule

I was listening to the Laura Ingraham radio show today and they were talking about how some cars are girly cars and some are manly cars. Laura was particularly mentioning that the Mazda Miata was a girly car. This was news to me. Her assisitant chimed in with saying the Mazda 3 was a girly car. This was also news to me. I'm in the market for a new car and was thinking of buying the MAzda 3 or a Miata. I've been told that the 3 has fewer service issues than other Mazda cars.

Of course one would gather that the manly cars would be trucks.

One girly car I've noticed is the VW Beetle. I've never seen a man driving one of those.

What do Freepers think? What cars are girly cars and what cars are manly cars.

I sold Miatas when they first came out. Back then, I knew I wanted one.

Men were coming in and buying them because they remembered having an MGB twenty years before and wanted that fun car experience again. We sold tons more to men than women.

In 1996, I bought one for myself and one for my wife. Her was an automatic, mine was a stick (men know how to drive stick). There is not a funner car on the road.

Now, drop a Mustang 302, which has been done countless times since 1989, add a Paxton supercharger, and you have a car that eats muscle cars for breakfast, and definitely is not a girly car. It is the modern Shelby Cobra. And very few cars can take a corner like a Miata.

Just don’t drive it like a girl. Also, it is girly to have a convertable and not put the top down whenever possible. THe heater in a Miata is so good, you can even go topless in the winter.

I totalled mine in 2005 and realized that REAL MEN RIDE MOTORCYCLES. You can see several photos of my riding my Kaw to Walter Reed Frreps, by searching on Free Republic for Walter Reed.

But, never mind what Laura says. Think about this. If you want a car to attract women, drive what they think is a chick car. They will want to hook up with you in hopes of getting to drive.

Harley 883 Sportsters are "girly" cars motorcycles.

Even my wife won't ride one because it's too girly.

My husband originally thought that the PT Cruisers looked nifty, then, one after another, we spotted women driving them (mostly short gray hair types.

Sometime later, he commented that the Mini Cooper was making a comeback. We had noticed the original ones at car shows over the years, and was interested in the "new and improved" Mini's. My husband even went so far as to test drive one that was a very sporty red with black convertible. Sadly, they too have been mostly driven by women.

Now hubby no longer opines on the latest "new and improved" anything and merely sports around in his very, high gas mileage, high performance sports cars and leaves "girly cars" to the girls, of every age!

(must be a guy thing)

Yes it is.

It is a way of talking about two of the three things a man needs to have his hands on every day to be happy, within a single sentence. The perfect sentence for a man is "big ass food truck".

Laura likes to ridicule people. Listen to her show closely, you’ll see what I mean.

Buy what you want and enjoy it. But, if you get a Miata, give it some roll protection. I saw one flipped over; it wasn’t pretty.

Girly cars? Mustang convertibles.

?

I had a 1968 Shelby Mustang convertable until recently. I would hardly call that a girly car!

My Landrover Discovery, V8, does great off road...Girly or Manly?

It takes manly termination to look at the fuel pump when it’s time to gas up! (Needs premium, too.) And to keep it serviced...

Hubby doesn’t really like it. He says the ride’s too bumpy.

But he has a Ford F150, so he’s not a girly man.

Bought mine used...thought I was going to buy something like a used late model Neon for practicality...but saw this, in the same budget range, bought it instead. Much happier.

I know that lesbians love Subaru Foresters...

Most of the Forester drivers I noticed locally have been geezerly guys. An affordable, practical car, good for snow country.

You , like many others on this topic, are living in the past.

The Firebird is no longer manufactured, and the GTO is some piece of Australian sedan, that was a complete flop.

The Flintstone car has to be the manliest car ever.

Can you imagine the legs on the guy that can drive it?

Yes it is and I have been the proud owner of one since 1995! My hubby won’t even ride in it with me.
