I changed the channel when he got to 'family values don't stop at the border'.

Neither do drunk-driving, gangs, crime, and corruption . I can't believe that he trotted out that mindless cliche again. That is supposed to convince Americans that importing millions of non-English-speaking illiterates from a corrupt 3rd-world neighboring country is a good thing?

Care about the plight of poor Mexicans? Challenge their corrupt government; don't pander to it.

Surprising that someone who obviously idolizes President uh King Reagan doesn't know ......Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment: "Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican."

But some people never learned to disagree civilly without a bash or two.

Whatever we do, we shouldn't give them a path to citizenship. You can legalize their status in other ways, but I would be very selective in such instances.

It is such an absurd situation to begin with. The politicians are the ones who have failed to secure our borders and refused to enforce our laws. Now that there are 12 to 20 million illegals here, we are told by them that we must make them legal because it is impractical to send them home. It would be laughable if it weren't so serious. Is anyone accountable for the existing situation? The politicians make it sound like it was beyond their control. Sh*t happens?

Thanks for the ping, Piper. I expect he’ll try to bolster his amnesty/sellout position.

George W Bush is, as on many other issues, being ruled by ill-informed passions when it comes to immigration. Sadly, he has most of the literati with him on this one.

Why? Because it’s very unfashionable among the overclass to think about the issues related to immigration, while the social decline associated with massive immigration mostly strikes at the lower middle and lower classes.

Did anyone actually listen to the speech?
I wasn’t close to a TV so thankfully I didn’t have to.
Was there anything different from his usual line of excuses expressed?

You know the old saying: “Privatize the profits, outsource the costs.” A great deal for those who hire illegals; not so great for the American taxpayer and worker.

GWB must think Americans are really, really stupid to buy his claptrap on this issue.

They are good solutions and have absolutely no chance of ever becoming law. With that said, I would like to some a Repub Rep or Senator with some balls initiate this. Hell, I would just like to see a Repub Senator or Rep with some balls!

I have a Larry Elder Show Live thread (such as it is). I’ve been listening to Larry for over 10 years. You oversimplify his positions. He’s conservative on most issues. He is pro-life. There was a time many years ago when conservatism and libertarianism were synonomous.

I would love to discuss this issue with you, but the bozos on this thread who haven't got a thought in their heads, and instead post bile from their loins, make it impossible.

Threads like this and irresponsible, angry, hate-filled posters like the ones posting here are the reason so many, many decent, honest conservatives rarely, if ever, post on FR any more.

The same words can be found on DU. In fact, I would guarantee that some the same posters can be found on DU.

This thread is disgusting.

(I returned to reply to your post, but will not read the vile attacks on possibly the most honorable man to ever occupy the Oval Office that surround it).

GWB must think Americans are really, really stupid to buy his claptrap on this issue.

He doesn't think for a second that America wants this. He thinks he knows better than we do.

I think three things are driving him.

1. His father is a globalist and raised him to be one.

2. He has genuine feelings for those who want to come here, and he wants to help.

3. Companies have bought influence to ensure they have access to slave labor.

That's what's going on. I understand that Bush is completely blind to the consequences of importing slave labor. My question is if he had enough foresight to see what this is going to do, would he do it anyway?

To: Reagan is King
You inferred a whole lot that I didn't imply........and quite defensively, I might add.

Reagan wouldn't like being called a King. I don't think that anyone who understood the man would disagree with that.
