"Where is Ross Perot when Ya need him!?"

Ya know, I could make a case that Ross Perot and his misguided candidacy cost the lives of 3000 Americans on 9/11/01 - many of them my fellow Staten Islanders. I could weep when I think of the cars that sat in the Ferry Terminal parking lot, night after night, waiting for commuters that would never come home.

For that I blame Bill Clinton.

For Bill Clinton I blame Ross Perot.

And you know what? The same RINO's will do it again if Rudy is nominated.

>Elections have consequences, ladies and gentlemen>

Especially when the state limits who can appear on the primary ballot. Even then, if the "wrong guy", a Republican, wins, they keep finding votes in strange places and recount after recount until - voila! The Demonrat wins! That's the way it works in Washington state, anyway. And, except for very liberal Republicans (like Smith), in Oregon, too. But instead of discovering "uncounted" ballot boxes, they always use the old "computer break-down" trick. Republicans winning pre-breakdown, Demonrats after it comes up again.

What's the odds on Hagel '08 now? 10,000,000/1 or so?

We are going to be a bigger War than we are in today. Its going to get far worst before it gets better.

Sorry but if Bush could communicate like Reagan, then I do not believe we would be in this situation. Bush's best supporters that can argue his points are on talk radio. The silence from the White House after all the criticism is not good.

I don't know...I doubt that many people even know what a unicameral is let alone have it influence their vote. Lincoln is so liberal with the university and gov't in town. Nebraska votes conservative for President, everything else is up for grabs.

It used to be that the rural areas were staunchly conservative and they would carry the republican banner. I wonder if rural Nebraska is what's changing, not Lincoln or Omaha. This is just my take on it.

"So we can get a bunch of Cut-and-Hagels in as RepubicRATs and the DemonRAT side full of Swimmers and Hitlerys with no chance of removing them? "

Since under the Constitution the Senators are appointed by the State Representatives then WE have ever chance to remove them as we vote for and elect the State Representatives. As it now stands it is almost impossible to remove a Senator even if the people of the state have voted in a State Republican Legislature. Senators were never suppose to be elected the House of Representatives was to be the House of the People and had all of the power to make and write all spending bills. It is now the Senate who is running the country and not the American people.

Again, the Republicans decided not to block this idiot bill because they wanted it to go to the President as quickly as possible so he can VETO it. Then they'll draft the REAL bill. This is nothing but political theater, and the Democrats know it has no chance of becoming law. The reason the Republicans decided not to fight it is because they need a chance to get the REAL bill to the President in time. But first, the President needs to veto the FARCE before they can get the real one to him.

Go take your medicine defeatist. Only an idiot will think that this traitor Ron Paul will have a chance in hell of even coming close to get the nomination of the Republican Party for President.

The fact that Enzi (R-WY) did not vote was a shame

I wouldn't get on Enzi's case. I understand he was taking care of a sick/dying family member.

FWIW, this may end up being a more helpful outcome. If they would have stricken the language, conference committee would have put it back in. Bush would have still had to veto the bill. It would have only slowed the process (which we really don't have time for at this point).

Both Hagel and Smith should be stripped of their committee assignments and thrown out of the caucus.

They wouldn't care. They might even like it.

In the Senate, creating complete autonomy from your own party is a highly desired thing in the last decade. Look at Lieberman.

The President is the most brave leader we have. He will veto this treasonous bill and you are right that he will sign executive orders to fund the troops even if there was no bill to fund them. He can allocate money to the troops from anywhere in the budget. The traitors are in lose-lose situation here.

But why let the troops and our enemies know that the United States Senate wants to cut and run ?
I would have fillibustered and lashed out at the DEMS.

I understand your sentiment, but:
McConnell understands it is more important to get our folks (military) the funding they need than score political points.

I'm with McConnell on this one, it was the right thing to do.

"Don't like the reminder that anyone who stayed home during the 2006 election contributed to this day huh?

No, I don't think I'll give it a rest as you suggested.

I think I'll help to continue reminding people that they helped put bunch of freaking leftists in charge of Congress who are bent on destroying our country."

I'm with you on this. What is going on in DC now is no suprise to anyone who paid attention to what the dims were saying before the election. The best offense our enemy has is the United States congress. I've lost respect for all of them.

You're probably right.

I left it on there to show how low and vile the person was who was arguing with me. It made him look like the king of a cesspool and improved my argument.

But now that you mention it, perhaps I shouldn't have.........in fact, I may go back and post abuse on it now.

Thanks for your thoughts.
