Live now, President Bush is making a strong response.
Acapesket, those are good ideas...I think you meant to post them to USMCWife6869. :^)
-"It is hard to believe that sane people cannot see through Nancy Pilosi."-
OK so I may get flamed badly for this but remember I am Just sayin....as in, this is just an idea in the abstract. Maybe they could be shown in no uncertain terms.
The Democrats are so very interested in timetables and benchmarks. President could just gave the Democrats both of them. Just not in Iraq, in Washington instead. That would be April 15th. A day most see as a day of reckoning already.
President Bush has drawn a line in the sand, a clear line.
Maybe one a little more clear needs drawn if they do not notice the one he drew today.
I think the Democrats will admit defeat by sending a last minute bill that is clean of their crap and of pork. That in itself would be a defeat which is why they did what they did today to start with, trying to avoid facing that defeat.
But if they don't, here is the flame drawing idea I just had as I read this thread.
The President can come out and say that if a bill is not on his desk to fund the troops that he will resign and that Dick Cheney and his Cabinet will resign as well.
I know it is drastic and even kooky but think about it for a minute. Who is going to support that, outside the most left of idiot moonbats of course?
Democrats would be forced to put up or shut up. W can take the high road saying that he cannot be held responsible for a Congressional leadership that refuses to fund troops in the field during an ongoing war. The only thing he can do is pass the torch to Nancy herself.
Ugly and painful thought I know, that is exactly the feeling this idea means to instill. Something like this would steal Hillary's thunder big time. First woman in the White House and all. It would also make Nancy and the Democrats own their rhetoric in the biggest possible way.
It would also show the people of this nation what is really at stake now and in 2008.
Now, I would not want to see W resign and I think that just this threat made openly would scare the $HIT out of Democrats. It would fire up the leftist morans because this is exactly what they want. So if the Dems cower to the threat the Cindy Sheehans will go even more a ballistic than they have been already. If they don't, well, then they have total control and they don't get to start from position ofhaving most troops out in 2009 already.
Let's say he actually did do it. What would the Democrats do? Pull them out instantly? Nancy would do that? There is a fair amount of time before the next election an surely we would be attacked by an emboldened enemy. Not that I want to see that happen either, but I fear that is what it is going to take to wake people up to what is really going on.
Basically, I am saying that W could threaten to walk away from the ultimate hand tie and force the Democrat Party to walk the walk they have so talked. No matter what happens, such a sacrifice would spotlight the Democrats for the lying backstabbing anti American Bush hating power mongers that they really are in a truly undeniable way.
I realize this is drastic but I believe we are in drastic times. I liked seeing W pissed off today. We need some more of that. Alot more of that.
In some ways, on a seperation of powers level, Legislative is the Executives boss. In this case it is money. Think to yourself about jobs you have held where you needed to do something and you just flat out couldn't get it done because the boss above you just wouldn't listen and played games instead.
What did you do to resolve it? Tell them to piss off and do it themselves then. This is what I am saying W could do now. Put the biggest ultimtum in this Nation's history on the table and watch the Democrats hide like the band of political game playing punks they really are.
I am not usually quite so partison but I am pissed of about this. This is not political gamesmenship as usual. Our Democratic Majority Congress just threatened the lives of the people all over the planet that protect my sorry ass .
It is time they pay a due price for this.
Before you just flame me just to flame me, think about how 08 would look if W seriously laid the smack down in such a way. The Libral leftist control over the Democratic Party would be crushed no matter how it played out. They would have to spend years trying to rebuild a shattered reputation.
I know its nuts but a guy can think in the abstract out loud once in a while can't he?
I generally approve President Bush's job performance and think he was very courageous in taking down the Taleban and Saddam regimes. But where I believe he's made a mistake, I say so.
Fact is, this President has many times threatened vetoes and only pulled the trigger once. I hope he means it this time, although I doubt this bill will get out of the Senate.
Now there's some rhetoric calculated to stimulate reasoned debate! Your lack of reasoning ability fails to intelligibly connect my comments to the issue they referred to. You may achieve some kind of small-minded personal catharsis by calling better people than you grade-school level names, but it doesn't change the facts. Your grasp of American political history from the time of FDR is nonexistent.
Assuming you have the ability to read (or more to the point, to understand what you read), try a few books that trace the Communist "progressivism" of the 1930s through the Communist New Left of the 1960s and onward to the modern American Communist-insired welfare state. Grapple, if you have the brainpower, with why "Republican" Presidents propose financially ruinous socialist prescription and "no child left behind" schemes, and refer to Ted Kennedy as a great legislator. Explain why the country is overrun with illegal new Democrat/socialist voters.
Despite winning elections, Republican administrations (other than Reagan's) have been powerless to stop the advance of socialism which has been strategized by the Pelosi-Left. "Republicans" now fight to repair Socialist Security instead of destroying it. They continue to endorse the Department of Education and fund "artists" who want to destroy them. They find themselves herded into support of socialized medicine (if Medicare can be described any other way please enlighten us morons).
When it comes to the power of the media, remember when the American people were behind the war on terror? Do you recall the real reasons voiced by President Bush for going into Iraq? Do you remember when global climate change was a scientific issue, not a political/religious crusade? You probably don't: it's only knee-jerking morons like me who are brainwashed by the media.
I wouldn't get too comfortable just yet,,,the lil'man from iran ain't comin' to the UN and 15 Brits have been "Taken",
The last time it took 3 days for them to be released,,,
He mite wanna play "chickin'" Too...He saw the "VOTE" too.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
...and on and on and on, I don't think anyone could stop him if all our lives depended on it.
point taken.....
I truly believe the little behindness is seeing the ire of America go up and up and up.....and he is becoming more scared by the second....
I hope he does just that. I hope he breaks in to the prime time shows to do it.
The biggest problem with this administration is the failure to articulate its vision. Rush pointed this out today: Reagan (who was by no means totally conservative in some areas, btw) was the "Great Communicator." Bush, on the other hand, has taken the polls to mean that he should be invisible and this has meant that conservatism has dropped out of the public mind.
Most people would rather think about Ana whatever her name was, and it's hard to get their attention if there's not a clear message.
I was very impressed by Bush's words today after the Dem vote, btw. That's what he should do all the time. Come out fighting, call them on it, and then suddenly the public support for conservative positions will be back. Right now people don't see a clear alternative. (Except for Freepers, who of course are way ahead of the curve!)
He has vetoed nothing at this point, as the bill would have to pass the Senate for it to reach his desk. He said he WILL veto it if it ever gets to him.
As to your assertion that no other President signed as much pork, let's see some proof of that if you have it. And we must have "constant dollar" analysis, not inflated dollars compared to the less bloated ones in the past, and it needs to be expressed as a percentage in current terms, not merely in raw dollars.
Finally, hotshot, he most certainly should object to the pork, because THIS IS A BILL TO FUND THE TROOPS WHO ARE ON THE BATTLEFIELD IN A WAR. THERE ISN'T ANYTHING WORSE THAN PORKING UP A BILL DESIGNED TO HURT THE WAR EFFORT AND ENTICING VOTES FOR IT BY PORKING IT UP.
You're welcome.
He doesn't know who he's talking to brother...
Do some more reading... that's rich.
Yep, we are the pushers of social programs and socialist ideas as in Pravda, McCain-Feingold, welfare and all that pork stuffed in there. s/
Ego writ large and condescending to boot, we know those symptoms.
I love the projection also, the last name fits.
Especially when they're harping daily on what the troops 'don't' have.
Because the liberal MSM is firmly ensconced in the 'Rat camp. They're the cheerleaders for this sorry lot of traitorous scum ...
