Dion calls Harper's comments 'outrageous'
PM accused Liberals of having more sympathy for Taliban than soldiers
Edmonton Sun
Thursday, March 22, 2007
TORONTO (CP) Liberal Leader Stephane Dion says accusations made by Prime Minister Stephen Harper that the Liberals are more supportive of Taliban prisoners than Canadian soldiers are outrageous.
Dion says the remarks and previous accusations that he is against the police are representative of a pattern of bullying by Harper.
The Opposition leader says Harper is tarnishing Canadas reputation in considering the issue of protecting detainees as trivial, and says hes concerned about the prime ministers behaviour.
Dion says that he would never resort to personal attacks.
He called again on Harper to apologize.
Harper levelled the accusation in the House of Commons on Wednesday after the Liberals demanded the resignation of Defence Minister Gordon OConnor for misleading statements he made about prisoners in Afghanistan.
I can understand the passion that the leader of the Opposition and members of his party feel for Taliban prisoners, Harper replied.
I just wish occasionally they would show the same passion for Canadian soldiers. Harpers attack drew angry jeers from the Liberal ranks.

I never realized how much Dion looks like Milhouse with gray hair until now.

Beyond the hair color, absolutely no other changes were required - LOL!

The pur laine Quebecois have a lot of genetic interconnections. There were under 10,000 immigrants from France during the 160 plus years of New France. Many of these were military or traders -- so the actual original genetic stock may only have been 5,000 individuals (and fewer families).
Following the conquest, the "revenge of the cradle" kicked in, and that original number multiplied exponentially. The pur laine Quebecois really are a distinct ethnic group.

Did you see
French Canada's genealogy data mined online when I posted it earlier this month?
The whole "pur laine" thing is quite the status symbol in certain quarters of la belle province with many claiming same likely unable to document as much.
Plus, the 'dirty little secret' au Quebec is considerably more maudit savage in the ancien gene pool than most Quebecois would care to admit.

Stephan has taken the gloves off. Election is imminant. I would love to see Harper cross the floor and take a Royal swing at Dionne's supercilious , bespectacled, socialist mug.
Kawack!
It would be a smack heard round the world.
And it would raise the morale of the troops and the whole country, and give heart to the harried Jews of France.
Make no mistake about it. Dionne and his running dogs are anti-semites, and have back channel connections to the Islamofascists via France.
The Taliban do not want their men talking, and keeping them away from Afghani inquisition is just what the Taliban do want.Dionne and the libs are working hand in hand with the Talibanis.
Dionne would give all the captured Afghanistani Taliban Canadian Landed Immigrant status, bring them to Canada,to form a 5th clumn prepared to re-enter Afghanistan after the Taliban are defeated.

he actual original genetic stock may only have been 5,000 individuals (and fewer families). It's even smaller for the Acadiens (Cajuns). We are descended from 39 families; everyone in North America with my surname is descended from the same couple that landed in Port Royal (Annapolis, Nova Scotia) in the 1540s. Thanks to the Expulsion and subsequent intermarriage throughout the continent our gene pool stayed healthy.

That's an interesting fact about the Acadiens -- I never knew there were so few families involved.
BTW, a gene pool doesn't have to be very large to be healthy. There's nothing unhealthy about the Quebecois or Acadien gene pools.
Quebecois are a distinct ethnic group -- but, more than genetics is involved. Their ethnic identity is based on a complex web of kith and kin relationships. (I.e., everyone is either related, or friends of you or your relatives.) In our modern, multi-cultural, urban society, with its much smaller families; we have much weaker ties of kith and kin.

Dion should have stayed with the Belmonts. I thought about the same Dion as well when I saw the thread...my bad. But good music!

I Wonder Why is THE classic doo-wop number - I still crank up the volume every time I hear it.

I agree...great song.
I have a 3 LP set (60 Greatest) on Laurie Records...he does a version of "Come Go With Me" that, IMO, rivals the original by the Del Vikings...one of my personal favs.
