A Call to Sift Through Gonzales Emails

I heard on the radio news this morning that there were about 3,000 emails that were dumped on the press and congress last night. So far, no smoking gun has been found, in particular no evidence that the firings were political. Interesting to see what they will find by the end of the day or tomorrow. By the way, what crime has supposedly been committed, and why has Gonzalez apologized, and why for heaven's sake is there such a frenetic call for his resignation?

The screaming sniping loudmouths run all the considerate posters off. Is there any wonder only the loudmouths are left?

President Bush phones his support: Translation: "You're fired."

Exactly. Detailed translation: "This phone call to reaffirm my support" is to let you know I expect a resignation on my desk before I have to fire your sorry A$$ in public. Don't worry, we'll see you get a nice cushy job that pays BIG $$$ on the board of some globalist think tank. Maybe with the Rockefeller Foundation....

If Bush had just listened to his base and fired Gonzales over the border agents/"Dog" Chapman outrages, he could have contained this. Now it will be a clear, decisive Democrat victory--all for nothing. What a shame. Will Bush ever learn?

"After all, the character, morality, strength and resolve it takes to anonymously spew your thoughts on an internet forum far surpasses those qualities in anyone else."

They were not my thoughts, I merely edited what another poster posted.

However, I voted for Bush twice; The first time enthusiastically, the second because he wasn't Kerry. I feel Bush has let the conservatives down on many many levels, and I'm genuinely disappointed in him.

We wouldn't have to guess on this one if Bush would come out publicly and strongly address the fact that as President he can fire whomever in the Justice Department he choses.

It pretty much is a non-scandal except for the possibility that there was pressure on these attorneys to pursue certain cases and drop others.

That is what the issue is really about, not the firings themselves.

Still, it really is a non-scandal since there isn't any evidence that there was such pressure on these attorneys.

Most presidents lose the House and Senate. That is not a thing to blame him for.

"By the way, what crime has supposedly been committed, and why has Gonzalez apologized, and why for heaven's sake is there such a frenetic call for his resignation?"

Because Karl Rove hasn't been fitted with an orange suit and taught to do the Frog March next to a hurdy gurdy while Democrats and other enlightened progressives throw things at him.

THAT is the entire truth.

Unfortunately, Gonzales has been such a heavy disappointmet as AG it's hard to support him.

THE INVESTIGATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE WILL NOT, I REPEAT WILL NOT, STOP JUST BECAUSE GONZALES LEAVES.

Gonzales needs to stay, at the very least, he can be a human shield for the administration. He can tell Schumer to go raise money for the dems some other way.

I feel Bush has let the conservatives down on many many levels, and I'm genuinely disappointed in him.

I have voted for GW as Governor of Texas & President.

To some in this forum, my disappointment in his current performance borders on treason...this I do not understand.

My heart actually aches for the President, yet he seems to have developed a tin ear. There are limits to financial & party support.

Every now and then somebody posts about the President's political capital and I wonder when the hell he is going to start using it. It just seems that at some point you have to start using it and stop letting the socialists have their way.

Gonzales is an embarassment to the legal profession. He's essentially a Mexican version of Harriet Miers who Bush has had in tow since his Texas days. He's kept Gonzales on for personal loyalty even though he is plainly unqualified for his job.

President Bush didn't lose the House and Senate...stay at home, tantrum throwing, teach the GOP a lesson, do it my way or else, "CONSERVATIVES", did!...Now...those are the FACTS!!!

Your last two sentences are a PERFECT example, PERFECT, of those self centered, my way or the highway "CONSERVATIVES" who handed the power back to the dimocrats.

Those two sentences say it all, it's, after all according to you, all about "you," "you," "YOU!!!"...and delusion.

Yes...this is definitely what America needs at this time in her history, a president straight from A Weekend at Bernie's.

{{{shaking my head in disbelief}}}
