>> This is an excerpt from the new issue of Rolling Stone, on newsstands until March 22nd.
Deep in a maze of adobe-colored huts at the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort conference center in Indian Wells, California, men in polo shirts are striding to 8:30 a.m. meetings. Most are gathering to debate recent advances in re-wetting drops for contact lenses -- "I have superior lens technology to Bob, I know that," one man jabbers, croissant in hand -- but beyond the golf course, in a hut with a majestic plaque reading villa capri, six Viacom employees huddle over coffee on polka-dotted chairs. This is the secret corporate retreat for Comedy Central's most popular, antinomian and flat-out awesomest show: South Park...

Ann Coulter says it and 90 newspapers cancel her column.Actually, over 90 newspapers kept her column... only about 7 of them dropped it.

the best part of the article
That's the most punk-rock thing you can do in L.A.: say 'George Bush is f*cking awesome' instead of talking about how lame it is that he's fighting for oil," says Parker. "The only way to be more hardcore than everyone else is to tell the people who think they're the most hardcore that they're pussies, to go up to a tattooed, pierced vegan and say, 'Whatever, you tattooed faggot, you're a pierced faggot and whatever.' '' He looks very pleased with himself. "That's hardcore." No rehab for them.

I never thought of it as blasphemous. Funny, yes. :) When you see Him in his majesty, perhaps you'll think further.

I personally think He is a fan of it.

I think Spike (the old TNN Network), and Comedy Central (the old HA! Channel) were all owned by CBS-Viacom which also owns MTV and Showtime. But I might be wrong cuz I get these mega corporations so confused.

Yeah, but the syndicated shows are heavily edited. My local Fox affiliate shows them, and they are cut up so bad I just quit my Tivo subscription.
If South Park goes to a gay network like Bravo, I hope it won't squash the creativity of the show.

I read an interview with Trey and Matt in which Matt(I think) said "We don't like Republicans but we REALLY don't like Democrats."

I wish they would. The songs from their movie are great.
To: csvset
I agree with you, but the Simpsons is decidedly liberal. Therefore, according to some, it is intellectual.

Don't tell me this is ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE -- criticizing anyone for not ascribing to standards of decency. It sure ain't the Rolling Stone I read religiously back in the early 70's, when my impressionable college-age mind believed everything they wrote just 'cause it was alternative media, hehehe.

One of my favorite things South Park did was on one season's Halloween episode, they outlined the lens with images of Streisand because she was so ugly and scary. Is this the same as the "Mega-Streisand?"

I found "Team America" hilarious but I admit to being shocked by incidents in the last 15 minutes of it. I didn't think they'd go that far.
