Part II of two part interview with Newt Gingrich by James Dobson
He talks about his personal life as well.
It would be a shame if they cannot put Newt's marital mistakes behind the future of the nation.
Newt is certainly brilliant in many ways - as a single goal strategist and as a canary in a coal mine.
But he doesn't have the staying power to complete a task all the way through which was what we saw when he was Speaker. Once he had attained his goal of a Republican congress, he was unable to lead it.
He is thrilled by the chase, but can't continue to lead after the chase.
He is "scattered."
..you are right, Spunk, this was no revelation
Some might suggest, that this is a necessary image rehabilitation process Newt has to go through in order to be supported on a broader scale...
Newt is far too damaged politically to ever be a realistic candidate. He's been quite successfully, even if unfairly, demonized in the minds of too many voters. He won't ever be President.
He is brilliant however. Maybe one of the smartest men ever to be in public service. There certainly must be a valuable role for him in anyone's administration. He'd make a indispensable advisor.
Maybe you should spend your considerable energy not tilting at Dobson.
So quick to hate high-profile Christians, I see....
Reminds me of a church I went to that had a very hard time finding anyone qualified to be an elder when they started looking really closely.
Those who entertain supporting him (and hopefully Newt himself) will remember how he was beat up in the '90s.
The MSM and the Democrat dirt machine will come after him with a full nuclear strike...
That's a curious statement.
He won his seat 10 times including some very tough redistricting votes. He rose to minority leader and pushed the Contract which won 54 House seats and the first Republican majority in 40 years.
Yes, he made some large political mistakes, but here he is again, running 3rd or 4th with no declaration of candidacy. He will be influential in the 2008 race whether he runs or not (I would prefer that he does).
He's not a "gifted politician"????
Who is?
..he was magnificent at CPAC
If he runs, the policy discussion would be taken to another level--while the MSM destroys him for personal failings...
I feel very strongly that all christian leaders should be attacking the horrors of the killing of christians in muslim countries.
And the dragons are as real as Al-Qaeda...
Bill Clinton is #1 of "gifted politicians".
So the answer is, "no".
****The MSM and the Democrat dirt machine will come after him with a full nuclear strike...***
True - but they will do this to any Republican.
For the most part Gingrich engineered his own demise with his scattershot leadership. Remember all he had going on while he was Speaker? Book deals, teaching college courses, etc., etc. To say nothing of his personal life.
He's not good on concentrating on a goal and then carrying through when the goal is attained.
He's brilliant - but a transitional figure.
Aren't we all gifted and yet flawed individuals?
Perhaps it is time we "all" recognized that and put a "Brilliant Conservative, perhaps the most gifted in our time, in the Oval Office!
What is unfortunate is that so many live in glass houses are willing to throw such large stones.
..naw, Imp--some of us are just flawed ; - )
Newt was killed by the MSM in the '90s. If he runs, I hope he has a better plan for dealing with it.
amen.
and he could become POTUS, and the woman he was having the affair with (now his wife) could become FLOTUS...great role models for our children. Try explaining that to your children. He's politically brilliant, but I don't think he should be President.

It is good to teach our children that all men are sinful and they all fall. A good role model is someone who acknowledges that, repents, and makes it right.
