The beating of a white 14-year- old Rifle High School girl, allegedly by several female Hispanic students, is the latest indication of rising ethnic tensions in this fast-changing community, school officials said Wednesday. The friction in this working- class town, which is becoming increasingly Hispanic, has drawn interest from the U.S. Civil Rights Commission, and Garfield County School District Re-2 has asked for help from the Colorado Mediation Coalition, Superintendent Gary Pack said.

Actually they are twice as likely to commit a hate crime but they are not twice as likely to be charged with a hate crime. I saw the same stats and that is what it said.

I am a Southern Coloradoan and that's the way it was where I grew up. I don't think I ever used the restroom the entire time I was in middle school or high school. If I did, I never went alone. That sounds really funny.

Doesn't matter what color the perps or victim are. Beating someone up is a crime, and they should do the time.

The original purpose of "hate crime" laws was to xxx-ream whitey just for existing. "hate crime" laws have fulfilled their purpose.
And of course, the same crowd of RINOs and pseudo-conservatives who support Giuliani, McCain, and Romney, applaud the Star Chamber trial of the two Border Patrol agents, and attack Ann Coulter for her insensitivity to the delicate feelings of perverts would defend their prosecution and claim that they got what they deserve if they were abused by their fellow inmates.
What a time we live in, when up is down, black is white, 2 + 2 = 5, and when you don't agree, you are a candidate for sensitivity training.
Since this is Colorado, shouldn't it be tried under Aztlan Law?
Not at all odd. My daughter (blond) went to school in Hawaii for a year. Although she made a lot of friends and generally had a good time she did not feel safe. The native school kids actually had a "kill a howlie (white person) day", where they would single out white kids & beat em up.
I saw that and changed the channel and I am of Mexican descent.

I remember seeing the story of the new hispanic immigrants not getting along with the long term hispanics (2nd and older generations) in Garden City, Kansas about two years ago. I read the story since my half sisters all live there.
