Queen Nancy speaks:
Today's guilty verdicts are not solely about the acts of one individual.
This trial provided a troubling picture of the inner workings of the Bush Administration. The testimony unmistakably revealed at the highest levels of the Bush Administration a callous disregard in handling sensitive national security information and a disposition to smear critics of the war in Iraq.

I hope "Crutches" Russert can sleep with himself.
Oh, I'm sure he can. Justice and truth don't mean jack to him.

But he allowed Fitz to spew out the conspiracy theory - that Plame was "outed" to "get" Wilson - in his closing remarks. In my opinion, that in itself is grounds for appeal. You may be right but Libby's lawyer was slow to object.

Bush's formula for failure: Do not establish a "war room" to deal with opponents of your policies. Do not, whatever you do, defend yourself against charges that you are a blithering idiot, a liar, a dunce, and a virtual war criminal. Do not, under any circumstances, do anything to stop treasonous leaks to the media from State, Defense, and Justice sources. Forevermore, do not take your case to the American people that there are cynics, liars, crooks and worse in the government that will do anything imaginable to weaken your administration and the defense of the nation as a whole.
Here is truly an instance that we can clearly state that "It is Bush's fault."

This isn't gonna end here. Next we're gonna see the dems come after Cheney viciously. I believe this will give more amunition to the dems to start impeachment proceedings against Bush as well. All I can say about the jury's decision is--it sucks! Jurors convicts Libby. Congress convicts Cheney and Bush. Democracts assume Presidency. President appeases terrorists. Terrorists nuke D.C.. Jurors are toast.

Then Bush shoudn't have asked him to investigate and find the source of the leak or leaks. I doubt Bush specifically asked to have the 'Plame leak' investigated.
What the President did want to have investigated were the incessant national security leaks coming from the CIA and the State Department that went to the NY Times and Washingtion Post.
To: Howlin
we knew the outcome here wasn't going to be good.
To: AliVeritas
I hope Joe, Val and Fitz can be subpeonaed as well, for the appeal.Unfortunately, Ali, appelate courts rely only on the record. No testimony is taken.

understand, but the underlying issue---as is now clear in the statements of the jury---is that Libby was "covering up" for Rove/Cheney, and so at some point the essential TRUTH of the case had to be stated on record, under oath. And a smart laywer could have done that. Didnt Libby's lawyer come out with something about Cheney? Problem is three days before talking with Russert, Libby asked Fleischer to leak Plames identity to the press.

"American justice is dead, and this proves it."I think you are correct, in that I think this was a runaway jury. A not to bright, but ideologically motivated jury, actively led to the verdict by a self aggrandizing WaPro reporter, convicted someone who might have very well been guilty, but convicted him because they wanted to "get" Cheney.
The jury comments after the trial are just bizarre.
