I believe Nixon was pardoned of any "possible" convictions that would have come about in a future trial. he was never tried and couldn't be because he was pardoned in advance. I this case the trial went forward and I suppose has to be completed including all appeals before a pardon can be issued. So you are saying that a pardon is OK before a trial starts but not while it is in progress or after a conviction until all possible appeals have been resolved? Do you have some reference for this novel legal argument?

Russert was just desperate to make sure HE wasn't indicted. He probably blubbered every name he could remember. But that still doesn't do Libby any good.

Libby can appeal this and more than likely will. I was never interested in this case.

This is a totally "CHERRY PICKED" Jury! Held in DC. Where 89% voted Democrat last election. Talk about the need for a change of venue, or grounds for an appeal!

I don't think he should be pardoned...but the Marc Rich precedent is clear.

Juror: It was the RUSSERT/Libby conversation that was an important factor in the decision. I still think Russert lied.

How could a reporter sit on the jury that was about statements to reporters, and NOT be biased?
And why wasn't he pre-empted?

I don't know if outing is an issue at all, the prosecution claimed he lied criminally and knowingly. I think that is near impossible to prove and considering how convoluted the whole situation was, I do not know why it was even a big deal.
It was a potential probably unknowing lie about a non-issue!
So why the prosecution?
