On Ann Coulter - Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic. (conservatives respond)

Idiotic. Disgusting. Stupid. Moronic.

I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, who’s shocked? She obviously can’t behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if it’s unflattering.

(For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s audio of her calling John Edwards a “faggot” at CPAC today.)

---

Michelle Malkin -

***4:15pm update***

Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."

A smattering of laughter.

Not from this corner.

Crickets chirping.

---

Bryan Preston of 'Hot Air' -

Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gore’s green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.

Here’s what she said.

“I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”

I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.

Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.

Thanks, Ann.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.

Actually, the statement depicts her as more of the mirror oposite of M Moore, but it was more of an indictment of her followers.

it was not a joke, it was a purposely provocative statement.

OK, it was not a great purposely provocative statement, but it wasn't as bad as her detractors claim it to be.

I have to admit, I don't recall the song. Can you give me the artist and maybe I can find it and listen to it to refresh my memory.

I thought she was hilarious!

Saying the word "faggot" and you need to go to rehab is funny! It should be the other way around - "faggots" going to rehab.

Great, dry sense of humor!

My previous post about Ayn Rand's thoughts on homosexuality got deleted -- probably because I spelled out the poster's name. (Funny how his name is allowed, though.)

Anyway, here is another variation of the same quote, from Wikipedia:

In response to questions from the audience at the two Ford Hall Forum lectures she gave at Northeastern University, Rand explained her stance in more detail. In her 1968 lecture, she said, "I do not approve of such practices or regard them as necessarily moral, but it is improper for the law to interfere with a relationship between consenting adults." (Ayn Rand Answers, p. 18) In 1971, Rand repeated this stance, then explained that homosexuality "involves psychological flaws, corruptions, errors, or unfortunate premises", concluding that homosexuality "is immoral, and more than that; if you want my really sincere opinion, it's disgusting.

http://tinyurl.com/25x6rw

And as I said, she would have to go to rehab for those remarks. And of course Hey4qdems would call her a hater.

And she wasn't even joking.

(Don't you love the way the mods selectively moderate?)

Hugh Hewitt has already taken Ann to the woodshed. -

Excerpt -
"I cannot imagine Coulter being invited to any panel or television appearance on which I would want to appear. Colleges and universities must also stop inviting her to appear as a representative of the conservative movement in America. She is not. You want smart, accomplished and funny conservative women? Ask K-Lo, Laura Ingraham, Carol Liebau to appear, or chose from scores of others. But not Ann Coulter --she represents only a snarl and a deep need to be noticed. "

Ann Coulter has no capacity whatsoever as a representative of the GOP, or conservatives for that matter.

I agree.

She has become an embarassment. This type of stupid remark really hurts our cause and reinforces negative stereotypes of conservatives. It is also in character with a person who has nothing intelligent to say but glories in the attention she receives from making "over the top" remarks.

I think she's a classic narcissist.

Ann is much more entertaining and right, than MM. He is a dunce.
100% Agree. Michael Moore is nothing but a filthy, lying propagandist who constantly have to lie and omit the facts in order to make a point.

Bullcrap! Let her speak, and don't worry about PC or offending anyone or making the rat party mad. It's about time that the gop and it's membership speak and campaign in the "mean" mode. Making nice does nothing to get any gop candidate ahead. Make it mean, make em scream and then trash em again when they respond.

Democrats are like muslims, make it harsh and keep hitting them as often as possible, they understand that because it is their mode of operation.

You know "argument from authority" is the weakest kind of argumentation.

Hugh Hewitt agrees with Howard Dean and John Kerry.

Oh, and Michelle Malkin and the guy from Captain's Quaters (who for a fee will lecture you on how to make money with a blog).

So what-eth?

It was a joke. Stupid people didn't get it. Either they didn't know the news story that Coulter was referencing, or they are so thick they didn't connect that to what she said.

It was a joke. And they are proving the point of her joke a hundred times over.

As are the idiots who can't understand a simple joke on this and the several other threads.

Whiny stupid children, one and all.

What I LOVE about Ann Coulter and Larry Elder and others like them is that they are so desensitized to the pc idiotstuff that they say what they think. Probably because they have had to live with worse being said and done to them (and they managed to survive). "Mean-spirited" reminds me of my five-year-olds crying that "he's being mean to me!!". Ann, tell it how you see it and let everyone make up their own minds and don't let others shut out your opinions because they don't like them!
