WOO HOO!
Afternoon, FF. Slightly off topic, but look at my #920 above. PING of course is a technical internet term ("Packet InterNet Grouper (Groper)") but it has a very indirect connection to the Senator:
If you hear of him being in the area again give me a shout. Have different days off each week but might be able to catch him. Did get pretty good at seeing Bush.
Fred Thompson is pro-choice.
He's also a good friend of McCain's.
I can't figure out why so many 'pure' freepers love him.
I like the guy, don't get me wrong, but I fail to understand how people that lothe McCain and think Giuliani is the RINO from hell love him. He's not really that much different.
He changed his views before campaigning for his first Senate run. His votes in the Senate were pro-life.
Voted YES on maintaining ban on Military Base Abortions. (Jun 2000)
Voted YES on banning partial birth abortions. (Oct 1999)
Voted YES on banning human cloning. (Feb 1998)
Yah? So what? Most people voted that way, including Democrats.
A few good votes around the edge of the issue doesn't make you pro-life.
Look, I like Fred Thompson, but let's not call him what he isn't. He's not pro-life. Neither is Giuliani. If you are OK with that, great, I think he'd make a good President in spite of the fact that he's not pro-life even though I am.
He voted against Partial Birth Abortions, against abortions on banning Military Base Abortions and against Human Cloning.
Yah? So did a lot of pro-choice democrats.
He ran as pro-choice, against overturning RvW, and has never changed that stance.
If he gets on the closing the borders and a strong national defense wagon he has a chance.
" It's about the illegal criminals stupid!"
For some reason I don't think your campaign will last very long ;-)
Nice chattin' with you.
Please add me to your ping list. This is the first time I've posted to a political thread since everything went to pot. Hope this is a sign of better times...
One of my favorite lines by Fred Thompson was in the movie, "The Hunt for the Red October". He said something like, "The Russians don't take a dump without a plan." That was a classic.
Barbarians at the gate.
Where did he say he was against overturning Roe vs Wade?
I've gladly added your name to the ever growing Draft Fred Thompson list. This list has almost doubled in the last 24 hours :)
Please put me on the ping list. Thanks.
Count me in!!
Welcome aboard the Thompson Train! :)
Please add me to your ping list. Thanks much.
