WOO HOO!
What .. that Spiff is a jackass??
Yep!
Not me. I won't have to brush up on his "stances" at all. I have no trouble, at all, understanding which of the candidates is ideologically closer to me and it damned sure ain't Hillary, John Edwards or any other of these leftists pimps.
Well, I see what you're saying, and I'm not going to start pushing him as the best choice for the GOP, but...he is so much better than the three MSM candidates, that I could happily vote for him in the general election if he should be nominated.
I have no doubt that's where it's at right now; that and pinging the buttboys.
I like him a lot, but he was not as strong on that committee as I hoped he would be.
fingers crossed
LOL! Indeed.
And from the "On the issues" page, he looked pretty good on social issues.
I wouldn't consider 250k per speach a pay cut.
He's not perfect - leaves a lot to be desired on immigration, although, let's be honest - immigration was NOT as hot an issue when he was in office. And at least he voted to limit welfare for immigrants.
However, he's far and away better than Rudy and most of all he would probably beat the living snot out of Hillary.
Thank you for that.
I'm getting my checkbook ready.
Can he Walk on Water???
Pray for W and Our Troops
These two would tie the libs in knots. The libs would be spitting up all over themselves.
Most importantly, they would have enough brass between the two of them to push the RNC in the right direction. And enough brass to go head to head with the libs. And take the country in the RIGHT direction.

Drafting Fred ThompsonPosted Mar 2nd 2007 6:24AM by NixGuy
Filed under: President 2008, Republicans, John McCain Fred Thompson
Thanks to this post at ElephantBiz, it's now obvious that all current GOP candidates will blow away and Fred Thompson will step in to save the day.
OK it's not that obvious, but there are many admirers of the former senator from Tennessee, including this Web site.
Hotline on Call quotes the WH Bulletin:
Thompson, the former Tennessee Republican senator who's now a Law & Order prosecutor and regular replacement for radio host Paul Harvey, is being urged by supporters to consider entering the presidential race, according to associates.
"The draft Fred movement is growing," says one ally. They say that Thompson is flattered by the suggestions, but it is unclear if he is turning away their appeals. The effort is growing among conservative blogs, where several boards are pushing the folksy straight-talker to get in.
But then throws cold water all over the idea:
Most importantly, Sen. John McCain is one of Thompson's best friends. They talk regularly. A source close to Thompson said that Thompson will not run for president, period.
But what if McCain faded?
This is more a symptom of certain conservatives in the party looking at the current field and realizing that there is no conservative hero among them. The only solution then is to draft one.
Huckabee and Brownback don't have the stature and gravitas that Fred Thompson exudes without even trying. Unfortunately Senator Thompson has never indicated much of a desire to be president.
If McCain fades sure, Thompson could step in but don't bet on it. What I'm wondering is that given Rudy's liberal record on things, will there be a conservative Stop Rudy campaign coalescing to draft a champion?
Just because conservatives can handle Rudy's liberal values doesn't mean they like it. All things equal, they'd rather have Rudy's qualities plus a social conservative as well.
Fred Thompson may not be the only one to face a draft.

I think FNC may now mention this in roundtable.
Nope, no deal. rudy is no where in my vote.
Really?
He was an actor before he was a Senator as well.
Hmmm...well from the page I read...he voted for the PBA ban. I wouldn't think a pro-abort would vote for banning partial-birth abortion, but who knows?
I haven't trashed Thompson and I don't plan to. I posted factual information about his positions from the very same site for which you provided a link. The chart that I posted is from that same site.
Now, read what I posted. I discussed some of the positions that he's taken that may be a problem with conservatives. I said he was a moderate because...well...he is a moderate.
I trash liberals. Thompson doesn't appear to be a liberal. I don't hold a lot of respect for moderates, but I can display some tolerance for them as none of their positions are particularly offensive. Fred Thompson, based upon a very quick perusal of his political views and statements, has no glaring showstoppers that would prevent me from supporting him in the general election. His vote for CFR and restricing issue ads does cause me some concern though.
Reagan killed himself?
Wow, the things you learn on this forum.
