The Hunter-Thompson Ticket?

Their campaign would take off like a shot out of a cannon, and give both RINOs and Democrats something to seriously fear and loathe.

"That's only because he's been busy being an actor. I'd find it hard to give up $100,000 an episode on Law & Order myself."

You know, some people do not place $$ above everything. Hell, look at poor Clinton. He went into the office poor as a church mouse and left rich as a church! (and getting richer by the speech)

So I go to WikiPedia to see who Fred Thompson is....I saw the picture and thought, Kelsey Grammer is a republican?

Not that it's related, but... Kelsey Grammer is a Republican.

What is the attraction?

He's right on every issue aside from CFR. And he's well-spoken and persuasive. It'd be like taking the strengths of Rudy and Hunter and making one candidate out of them.

I see a couple of issues that I have with Thompson. He voted for McCain Feingold and restricting "issue ads". He voted for the HUGE socialist Medicare prescription drug benefit (who didn't vote for that junk?). He may be weak on immigration. He supports affirmative action. He is somewhat pro-amnesty.

The VoteMatch quiz rates him as a slightly - very slightly - right of center Moderate.

Not sure how excited I can get about another moderate entering the race. At least he's not nearly as liberal as Giuliani and Romney and not off his freakin' rocker like McCain. I probably won't be interested in supporting him in the Primary, but it doesn't look like he's any worse than President Bush - maybe even a sliver more conservative - and I could be convinced to vote for him in the General Election. I don't see any absolute show stoppers although the McCain Feingold thing gives me some pause.

I may not agree with Fred on anything, but he is a smart man who, judging from comments in the past, has a more than superficial knowledge of our foreign policy challenges, particularly as we slowly transition from Pax Americana to a multipolar world. The same can't be said of the other candidates.

So, I can say, with enthusiasm, RUN FRED RUN!
