ANYTHING said 'bout wieghtman's compensation pkg.? he'll continue in grade w/pension unchanged?
His career is ruined.
Sounds like the 1SG did a bit more than "didn't pay attention". WRT their complaints he subsequently started calling them out for 6am formations? How many rats was that supposed to catch?
They ticked the Commander and he sicked the 1SG on them, I've seen it happen before, and when we're talking about troops who aren't casual it's fine. WRAMC's job is to treat them, not drill them.
Must be from the off campus set up for recouperating personnel
I'm sure relieving him of his command has everything to do with the conditions at WRMC and nothing to do with the fact that they were told not to speak to the press.
I don't know how many other ways to say it. Military members are not supposed to speak to the press without authorization. It was like that before the war, during the war, and it will be that way after the war as well. That was not a new rule, no matter how the media wants to spin it.
I'm glad he lost his command if the conditions there are that bad. I've seen officers lose a command over much less.
I have a hard time believing the Walter Reed case was the exception rather than the norm.
You give up your Constitutional Rights when you enlist. The military gives you back some of them under the UCMJ, but they have restrictions that civilians don't have to worry about.
Heads deserved to roll over this, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of lower ranked heads follow suit.
No outrage concerning the systematic chiseling of the wounded vets disability benefits? The story talked to that too.
And we sign on the dotted line anyway. Big deal!
GOOD if my family member was wounded in battle I want them get best of care
HELLO
He should run an HMO - he's perfect.
Ouch!
So do the wounded soldiers have their First Amendment rights back yet?
-----
Enough to make you puke, ain't it ??
The truth of the matter is that soldiers/sailors/marines/airmen etc.. sign away many of their constitutional rights when they join the military. Those rights are replaced with the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice). The UCMJ protects many of the rights which exist under the constitution, but not all of them, and the twists that it put on the ones it does grant is somewhat interesting. All in all however; our military members are guaranteed more rights than most other militaries by a long shot and is not a bad deal at all.
Having grown up an Army brat, this points out what government health care would be like.
This must be Phase One of the dastardly Murtagh/Pelosi Plan. Defund the Army Rehabilitation facilities. Just let 'em deteriorate, then blame it on Bush.
Agreed.
Our veterans deserve the best possible care, period.
