Is Driving Rinos out of the GOP Good for the Country? Thought-Provoking Must-Read for Rudy-Haters.

Wedge Issues Posted by: “Common Tator” in FreeRepublic.com April 16, 2002

The one thing that amazes me on this site is the belief by some that the conservative position is the majority position.

Mostly people tend to believe it could be the majority position if the right candidate ran, or if it weren't for the media or RINOs or etc, etc. They really don't have a clue.

Roughly 2/3 of the public has firm views. They have made up their minds and do not change them. This group is nearly equally split between the left and the right.

There are about a 1/3 of the population that is never sure. Sometimes it will go left and sometimes it will go right.

When a party restricts itself to its base it will be in a minority party. The "base only" party will be reduced to crying as the other side works its will. In some nations both the left and right restrict themselves to just their base. That nation then develops five or six parties. And all governments in that nation are coalitions of a major party and some of the minor parties. In that situation the minor party always has more influence than its numbers represent. For the Rino and Dino haters that is the worst of all worlds.

Many of Rino and Dino haters try to make ours a 3 or 4 party system. They never figure out that their splinter right or left party would never get much power in a government based on coalitions. They are too small. It is the centrist parties that have a 1/3 of the public as potential members that get the clout in the Multi Party system. As you can see in a 2 party or a 5 or 6 party system the center tends to prevail.

But in our two party system the center is an instrument the major parties use to enact their goals. In the multiparty system it is the center parties that use the right and left to enact their centrist goals. Such a system like those in Italy and France are RINO and DINO paradise.

This nation now and for all of the last 140 years has been roughly 1/3 left, 1/3 right and 1/3 in the middle. Those in the middle who run for office are what we call RINOs and DINOs.

When Republicans drive RINOs out they leave the party to become DINOs and take their political power with them. The Democrat party gets them by default.

Then the Democrats thanks to its Dino buddies have a veto proof house and senate. It was Barry Goldwater's greatest accomplishment. In my BRAIN I knew Barry would elect a lot of DINOs ... and he did.

If a party with most of the center wins the presidency too, they have a filibuster proof senate. That party then can do anything it wants to do. When the party leadership takes control they implement the parties’ core beliefs. It was what LBJ did after Goldwater drove all the RINOs into LBJ's camp. It let LBJ do the "Great Society." LBJ had to have Barry's help to do it. And Barry did what it took to give LBJ the support he needed... LBJ had all the left. Barry gave him all the center.

To win control a party must keep its base and get over half the middle. If the Republicans have more RINOs than the Democrats have DINOs the Republican agenda prevails. If the Democrats have more DINOs than the Republicans have RINOs the Democrat agenda prevails.

Those that demand the defeat of RINOs are doing all they can to enact the leftist agenda. They are the most valuable asset the left has. One of the most effective tactics in politics in the negative campaign.

Negative campaigns are not about getting votes for your candidate. They are about getting the other side's base to not vote for their candidate. Thus if you can get the right to vote against a Rino or not vote at all, you can elect a very liberal candidate.

If you can force the Republicans to nominate a right wing candidate so right wing he can't get the center voters, you elect the left candidate.

This is why we don't have a European-style, multi-party system. Americans in general don't go in for radical politics from the right or the left, which is where third parties draw their ideology from. This is also what frankly has been bugging me about the "My way or the highway" types. A lot of them are, as the post suggests, actually third-party types with their own agenda rather than rock-solid conservatives who want what's best for the country.

You hate Rudy (or Romney, or Mcain, for that matter) at your own peril.

Beware of Buchananites in conservative (or GOP "Base") clothing.

I have already given you that break, and it'll take a lot more disappointment before I stop giving that break. I've daydreamed about you and the forum before, how it must be a pi$$er to be semi-neutral while arguments are occurring. I used to figure you'd have a nom de plum so you could play on the forums like Joe Smoe, Neither being held on a pedestal nor being limited in your rhetoric. I figured that only because I imagined that is what I'd do.

But I am hurt that after all this time, you did not know I was a Rudybot! You need to get out more. :)

I know Torie well enough to know that Torie takes the "informative scenic route" oftentimes in her posts to make a specific point.

:)

Instead of defending their candidate with hard evidence and sound arguments, the "give us Rudy or we will die" contingent have stooped to play the victim card.

I suppose if that's all they got . . . .

And you have insinuated abortions would be performed at the White House, and that by merely supporting Guiliani, we would have blood from aborted babies on our hands.

I've "insinuated" no such thing. The first part is just silly, but the second part I've said straight out: Those who empower NARAL's flunky politicians empower abortion...and yes, they have blood on their hands.

For folks like you in Rio Linda, that means you share the responsibility.

This is what is known as a self-evident truth.

I don't know why you can't see it, unless you simply refuse to do so. I'll try one more time and then I'm giving up on you as a lost cause.

If we, a conservative party that has been fighting a fight for life and liberty against a socialist enemy that is bound and determined to have things their way, ie, a godless society where abortion and perversion is the way of life and marriage is totally meaningless, the traditional family unit is destroyed, our children (those whom are allowed to live) become wards of the state, we the people no longer enjoy our first amendment rights to dissent, free speech, free religion, not even private property rights, where we no longer have the right to keep and bear arms, where we have no control over our borders or who enters our country, etc, etc, if we drop this fight and elect a president who believes the exact same way our long term enemy does, then we have lost the battle. It is over. Finis. The socialists get their way and this country is on the fast track to hell. That's it in a nutshell, believe it or don't. We will never ever live down electing a social liberal. It's the party putting its stamp of approval on abortion as a constitutional right, gay marriage as a constitutional right, gun control as consistent with the second amendment, ie, the right to keep and bear arms is not an individual right, campaign finance reform is consistent with the 1st amendment, ie, the founders did not really mean "The Congress shall make no law...," the right to private property and due process is meaningless, etc, etc, In other words, our entire constitution is upside down and the people have no rights that can't be taken away and there are no meaningful restrictions on government power. Once you willingly give it up, there will be no way to get it back. The socialists win all.

Maybe cuz he didn't want to be a senator he wanted to be POTUS.

That is one of the stupidest arguments I've heard yet!

Hillary and Kerry were sitting senators ya goof. What was Rudy sposed to do run for a senate seat he doesn't want just to run for prez a year later? Talk about stupid arguments

No, it has nothing to do with the way you see it. It has everything to do with the common respect and decency that is projected by people who post here.

I served my country proudly and risked my life in the process. Neither you or anyone else will disrespect me by calling me a baby, a traitor, an idiot, a Bushbot, a Rudyophile, baby killer, or what ever degrading or shameful term your group has the indecency to come up with.

I was called a baby killer 30 years ago by people who your group bears a striking resemblance to. Your Ideology might be different, but your manners, methods, and sense of hypocritical indecency are about the same!

Great post. I wonder if dmw is truly conservative enough to act like a decent human being?

That is perfectly understandable. Here is the deal. I wanted to project that I was more of an English Tory party type in ideology, but the name "Tory" was taken, so I decided just to mis-spell it, and "Torie" was available. I did not know at the time that "Torie" was girl's name, and by the time I did, it was too late in my view to change my name, which had too much posting history.

And there you have it.
