Reading books and watching movies are not mutually exclusive, lol. I love when a book I have read is made into a movie and I have also read many books after I have seen the movie.

Maybe we can have a thread every now and again about books made into movies and how they differ from the book etc....

I am waiting for The Namesake to be released in March...I just finished the book and it was very special. But, as we all know, sometimes Hollywood changes stuff around. Although the movie was made in India and is an all India production.

That is what I envision as one of the themes of the new movie thread.. Love adaptations of books - I was thinking of August.

All movies reviewed will be along that line. I will TRY hard to get a screenwriter to contribute a piece.

charlie Kaufmann is my fav screenwriter... but I need to learn more about them. He does off the wall stuff, which I love

Goodness! your movie theater experiences sound wierd~

I have gone to the movies for over 40 years as an adult(and many times a week) & have never had a bad experience of any sort that was negative.

At home I have too many detractions to make movie watching enjoyable. As a "mom caregiver" it is never a relaxing time to unwind. The theater does it for me

No narrator. No voice-over. Morris lets people tell their own stories, and I'm a fan of that approach.

Well my cities are not really small...Cleveland Oh, Boston, Houston..are the three big cities I lived & have done movies .

Now in Cleveland.

My years in smaller community .. Winston Salem NC...was not any different.

Maybe I have just been lucky.

I do 75 percent of my movie attendance on NOT FRi or Sat. That might make a difference.

I just dislike the crowds, waiting on Fri/Sat - but even in the crowded theaters, things are okay, just crowded!

>>What are your ideas for inclusion in a Monthly Movie Thread?

New movies in the pipeline

Do you mean "new movies" as in all new movies in the theatres only, or will you expand the Monthly Movie Thread to also include new DVD releases which would interest the majority of Freepers as well? If you are also including new DVD releases that most Freepers would probably enjoy, then I would recommend The Pursuit of Happiness which is coming out next month.

what is it doing where you live? winter "fun" here/ What the map does NOT show is the mega flooding & blocking of several river mouths with ice flows onto Lake Erie. Each year a big time concern/problem
