Hillary Vs. Rudy
US News and World Report ^ | 2/23/07 | Michael Barone

Posted on 02/24/2007 10:59:08 AM PST by Blackirish

snip/National upshot: Rudy's electoral vote position against Hillary is much stronger than Bush's against Kerry. Rudy puts almost the whole East into play and is significantly stronger in several target states in the Midwest and West. Hillary puts some states into play in the South but with many fewer electoral votes than Rudy does elsewhere. Even if you assume that Hillary is stronger against Rudy today than she was in July, the pairing does place the Republicans in a stronger position than Bush was in '04.

---"And Independent voters and Reagan Democrats will vote Giuliani."---

Based on what? His unwavering support of the war, which they despise? Or his social and Gun Liberalism, which they also don't like?

I come from a family of Reagan Dems, and we will not. He is to liberal.

I come from a family of FDR Democrats, Dewey Republicans and Eugene Debs Socialists, but I moved out of my parents basement when I was 17, was arrested disturbing an Ayn Rand lecture and became a Registered Democrat who prefers Democrats in local and state offices, Republicans in the Executive and Democrats in the Congress. I don't care who sits on the Supreme Court. They don't have guns.

Meaning Hellary or "Empty Suit"? Who else do they have? The rest of the pack are dumber than even these two. The MSM has all but coronated "Empty Suit" any way.

I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights, Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded. Source: CNN.com, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999 http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Rudy_Giuliani_Abortion.htm

ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES (November 14, 2006)

RUDY GIULIANI (R), FORMER MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY: I'm pro- choice. I'm pro-gay rights.

KING: Giuliani supports a woman's right to an abortion, and back in 1999, he opposed a federal ban on late-term abortions.

GIULIANI: No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing.

KING: Immigration could be another presidential landmine. Back in 1996, Mayor Giuliani went to federal court to challenge new federal laws requiring the city to inform the federal government about illegal immigrants.

JEFFREY: He took the side of illegal immigrants in New York City against the Republican Congress.

KING: Giuliani opposes same-sex marriage but as mayor, he supported civil unions and extending health and other benefits to gay couples. He also supported the assault weapons ban and other gun control measures opposed by the National Rifle Association.

GIULIANI: I'm in favor of gun control. I'm pro-choice.

Republican Big-Wigs Support Pro-Abortion Event in NY

Pro-abortion Governor George Pataki and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also supports unrestricted abortion, are co-chairs of the 2000 Choice Award Presentation to be held on May 30 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. The event is sponsored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition, a group that is campaigning for the removal of the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform.

---"It funny how many so-called convervatives on FR are hellbent on electing Hillary as their president."---

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. A huge chunk of Conservatives make it known LONG ahead of time that they'd never support Rudy, yet a vocal minority insist upon doing everything in their power to thrust him upon us as the nominee. Plenty of other nominees available, but for some reason the most Liberal one is the one they rally around from the beginning.

Then they'll blame Rudy opposers for Hillary, when Rudy opposers were shouting their warnings from the mountaintops, at the top of their lungs, from day one.

Don't blame us for not being "pragmatic" when the idea of pragmatism never entered your brains before the primary. If you give us a candidate we find abhorrent, don't blame us for not helping said abhorrent candidate win.

"Democrats in the Congress"

Wow! You must be jumping for joy, now that Congress is going to turn their backs on our troops and the WOT!

"The other issues won't mean a hill of beans if we're all dead.

True, but it's gonna take a while to kill all of us. Meanwhile, would life be really worth a damn if the liberal social values take over this country, once and for all? I just don't see why we are not talented enough to fight radical islam and radical liberalism -- both at the same time. This is not an 'either/or' situation.

Not only do the Suicide Conservatives want Hillary as their President, they seem to be geniunely thrilled at the prospect of the Clinton-Reid-Pelosi axis controlling the WOT. The Suicide Conservatives are a strange lot...

"He will split the party and lose." So far there is no evidence in the polls to support that assertion

You're right, no evidence. It's, merely, their 'fear tactic mantra'. IMO, they are doing the splitting.

The "Rudybots" as you call 'em, propose to see to it that The Great Satan Hitlery doesn't win in 2008 or ever

So very well said. Thankfully, there are 43% more "Rudybot" Republicans than Duncan "Donuts".

Nope. I would hope they keep the heat on the DOD now that Dumbsfeldt is out to graze...and that Congress starts to go after the contractors who've been screwing with WRAMC.

I hope they also dismantle the absurd DHS and the NID, two of the most obscene bloatations of the government in 134 years.

The war in Iraq was mismanaged for four years and now somebody needs to get into the JCS and kick butt.

The Suicide Conservatives just sent out a press release cheering the fact that Duncan Hunter just hit 2% in the latest Quinnipiac poll. It's a groundswell of support, I tell ya...

Tell that to the "stupid electorate" since the "MSM Lieberal Cheerleading Squad" is jamming Hellary and Obama down their throats on an hourly basis. :)

BTW I am not an advocate for any Republican candidate at this point, just a realist.
