Worshipers were interrupted during an Ash Wednesday service at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis by a trio of hidden CD players spewing "pornographic" messages from beneath pews.
Three CD players had been duct-taped beneath the pews and rigged to go off at 12:20 p.m., Santa Fe Police Capt. Gary Johnson said. An Ash Wednesday service was being conducted at the time, and Johnson said responding officers described the messages to him as pornographic, although he wouldn't go into detail about their content.
The cathedral staff found and removed the three CD players, then called police while church-goers evacuated the cathedral.
The bomb squad arrived at 1 p.m. and destroyed two of the devices, Johnson said. Realizing the devices didn't contain explosives, officers saved the third CD player for evidence.
"We take this very seriously," Johnson said. "We'll be analyzing the piece of equipment for DNA and fingerprints. We'll also be reaching out to the federal authorities. We're going to use whatever resources we can possibly use to solve this case."

Most likely high school kids. Of course, in Santa Fe gay and lesbian relationships and the homosexual lifestyle are celebrated by the newly arrived east and west coast liberals. It's no wonder that young adults have no respect for traditional religions that teach differently.

I doubt high school kids. More likely someone whose lifestyle and/or behavior is at odds with the Church.

The usual democrat party mass-media-produced hate crime against Christians.
To: CedarDave
I suspect the followers of an 'alternate' lifestyle too.
If there's anything that will resurrect the Catholic Church, after the Priest sex scandals of late, it will be the HATRED that is shown and demonstrated by the more militant among the Gay community against the Church.

I doubt high school kids. More likely someone whose lifestyle and/or behavior is at odds with the Church. Or disgruntled bloggers formerly associated with the Edwards' campaign.

They would have to travel to Abiquiu near the home of famed artist Georgia O'Keefe; its been there for 25+ years, at least. As far as I know, that one has not been a hotbed of Islam; just another "alternative" religion, like the Sikhs, that are present in the Santa Fe area.

Will this be investigated as a "hate crime"?

I don't think it's kids. That goes quite a bit further than a school kid prank. They got some real sick-o's there.

Good old Abiquiu, home of CFA. Is he still pestering radio listeners on the Villanucci show?
I swear that every time I heard him, he sounded bored and/or depressed. Not exactly the life of the party type.

I vote for the recent converts from the YouTube video blog about hating God. There are so many children who don't know the Christian faith now, since it's not taught at daycare and Mom and Dad need their Sunday "downtime". We are reaping what the feminist/homosex agenda had sown back in the '60's. I don't think this was just a prank, I think it was meant to harm the faithful.
Here's another case in point. "Art students"!
