Heavenly Father, we beseech you to bring comfort and peace to the widow of this young man and to his offspring. Hold them in your hands and provide for their needs, both earthly and spiritual and protect them from further evil.
Guide those who enforce the law in their quest for justice, and lastly, reach into the hearts of those who have committed this evil deed that they might know you.

The state law determines what can be considered First degree murder. It's generally reserved for murdering law enforcement officers. I hope Florida has some provision where this charge could be upgraded. Looks like a hate crime to me.
So sad that the good church-going young father's life could be taken in this way. Many prayers going up for his family and friends.
I'm so sorry for the death of your son in law, and your family's continuing pain caused by the person who killed him.
