The Half Hour News Hour (vanity)
FreeRepublic | 02-19-07 | Alia

Posted on 02/19/2007 5:29:54 AM PST by Alia

I've checked and seen nothing posted about the premier pilot of the 1/2 Hour News Hour on this forum.

I want more of this show. I laughed throughout.

The satire was crisp, delivery was very good.

The best thing about parodies and satires which grab at one's funny bone is that they are true and factual. The jabs delivered last night were true and factual. And Real.

I and my family enjoyed the 1/2 Hour News very much, and wish it were more than 1/2 hour long -- and covering the range of "news du jour".

How about you?

Kerry: "If you don't get a good education like I got, you'll end up in a tree!"

Remember the clip of Kerry: "Can I git me a huntin' license here?"

Yes I do.

And this is priceless:

Rush swore it wasn't a laugh track. Claimed it was a studio audiance.

I thought the writing was good, but the overbearing laugh track makes it seem cheap.

I have to agree even though there did seem to be a live audience during taping.

Okay, but needs some tuning up. Colbert's show was far worse at the start -- it was awful. The first 1/2 HNH was great in comparison.

The studio audience -- if that was the laugh track -- could use more warming up, for sure.

I think a show like this is what is wrong with Fox News. They like to say that they are "fair and balanced" but more often they seem just as slanted as CNN or CBS, albeit in the opposite direction. I want to be able to tune into a station and get news, not opinion even if it agrees with mine; and attempted comedy is worse than opinion.

I lack the specific knowledge, but it is my impression that this is a first in Joel Surnow's career. Doing a show like this is quite different from a show like "24". The timing and overall production are quite different. The unevenness, I observed, seemed more due to sound editing.

If Joel Surnow is interested, one of my best friends is a former Hollywood sound editor with 20 years of experience. :)

Yes, that would be quite nice, wouldn't it.

But there is exists a war. And there are two sides to this war. Prior to the WOT, there existed only one side heard from: the side which condemns and hates America, and seeks to capitalize upon every single piece of legislation passed by those who believe "America is a failed experiment".

Is that picture of Kerry and the shotgun real or photoshopped? I thought I had seen them all, but this one is almost as good as the cringing-at-the-football image.

The ACLU commercials were fantastic.
I even liked the Ed Begley Jr. parts.
They need to can the laugh track.

How could I not mention the Ed Begley "sightings" and "updates". LOL!

I wonder which side won. Well, that would first mean we had to go on through the liberal "bible" of script to determine the winner. Much like Rush does the NFL winners, in advance, according to liberal script.

I LOVED IT.

We need more shows like this. It was spot on and about time. I thought it was great that a reputable station such as Fox news, was airing it.

Poorly executed, I laughed out loud maybe 3 times. Fortunately, I have satellite calibrated for the East Coast so I can flip over to Cartoon Network and watch [adult swim]. Fox News Channel should switch to the actual news, 'cause Lord, they don't know comedy.

It was far better than I had been led to believe it would be after reading previews here on FR. I liked it very much.

I, and a lot of others here don't think that Fox is slanted opposite CNN etc. With a few exceptions, they're just less slanted to the left.

For me, it's infuriating to have to 'interpret' every time I listen, which I don't very much anymore.
