Giuliani's problem with the religious [large graphics]
Posted on 02/18/2007 4:12:23 PM PST by Jim Robinson
I don't know about you, but I doubt the Christian conservatives throughout the red state farm belt and especially down in the South are going to cotton to a liberal New York Yankee coming down to try to clean up crime by taking their guns and bringing abortion and gay unions (gay marriage) into their families, schools and churches.

The results will be disastrous for the Republican party and ultimately for all of us. Precisely.

Surely, if you blast America for a holocaust of 50 million people, that means SOMETHING. I never blasted America for a holocaust of 50 million human lives. I blased the abortionists for engaging in it, Margaret Sanger for getting the ball rolling, and Rudy and the other pro-abortionists for supporting it. That whole "America is evil" crap was a stupid strawman that you put up. Not me.

I see nothing in Rudy's past to believe he is a man who lies through his teeth. I can think of two right off. Ask his ex-wives.

I was thinking more on the order of Lincoln.I am curious if the anti-slavery party that was the Republicans who elected Lincoln would go along with a pro-abort nominee today. Somehow, I doubt it.

I'll go with Giuliani. Despite the fact that the GOP making sharp leftward turns directly into the path of oncoming Democrats is hazardous to its electoral health.
You wait for deus ex machina.
I'll try and find a candidate who can hold the party together instead of split it apart.

We are electing a president not a monk in chief...and I sure wouldn't hold ditching Donna Hanover against him.

Giuliani boasted to a European human rights organization that immediately after 9/11 he insisted on having continuous detailed briefings about anti-Islamic sentiment in NYC. He made it clear to the police that it was NOT to be tolerated.
So when Rudy's supporters tell us he is our saviour from Islamofascism, I have to wonder: where is their proof? The problem with terrorists is that they commit mass murder and mayhem well outside the law in foreign jurisidctions under circumstances where it is very difficult to eradicate them. That will frustrate an ex-prosecutor like Rudy.
But what of one's own citizens? They're a much easier target. An ex-prosecutor like Rudy knows where they live and how to reach out and touch them.

I don't think so. Your posts were quite clear about that. If you think that the crimes of the Nazi's have been exceeded by American crimes, you are wrong! America is a great country and the greatest force for good on this planet.

I see nothing in Rudy's past to believe he is a man who lies through his teeth.Rudy recently said that gun laws are a state issue properly made such by federalism.
Yet in 1997, in response to a terrorist shooting at the Empire State Building, he actively supported Clinton-proposed federal gun control laws to impose stricter gun controls on other states.
So he's a liar right there. His own history betrays him.

"So the 5 to 10 million gunowners would much prefer a democrat in the White House?"
Why would they care? A gungrabber is a gungrabber regardless of the letter behind his name.

Since Giuliani has already committed himself to naming judges like Roberts and Alito,Talk is cheap. Just ask Slick. He promised the most ethical administration in history.

Because there was no life of the mother exception.Nonsense. Try reading the bill from 1996. It wouldn't matter anyway though, until a week ago Giuliani was against the act with an exception for the mothers life. Amazing eh?
Without that exception I too would have vetoed it. And you may be interested that the most Orthodox Jewish law would have also vetoed without such an exception. The life of the mother comes first.
You would have vetoed a bill stopping the murder of late term babies because it didn't have an exception for the life of the mother even though it did? Where is that specified in the Torah?
