I don't know about you, but I doubt the Christian conservatives throughout the red state farm belt and especially down in the South are going to cotton to a liberal New York Yankee coming down to try to clean up crime by taking their guns and bringing abortion and gay unions (gay marriage) into their families, schools and churches.
But I don't buy it. We can't expect a guy to change his core beliefs because he has moved up the ladder a few steps.
It ain't personal, just sound politics.
Not to burst your bubble Jim, but should ever be in the neighborhood I'll be happy to introduce you to the congregation of an evangelical church in the Dallas area where you'll find that Rudy is by far the most popular candidate.
Actually, not.
I know your ideas are widespread.
That does not make my claim false. A pro-life Rudybot is an oxymoron.
Thanks Jim, I love seeing the red color of San Diego County, Duncan Hunter's home County
Keep it up. Please.
Damn Straight. And anyone who starts calling me a liberal because Rudy is my choice would do well to
a. Read my analysis a few posts above this one, and
b. Read my homepage
before doing something rash that will lead me to eviscerate them (metaphorically speaking).
This is deadly serious business. If we allow the Islamofascists to take over the Middle East and Europe, not to mention infiltrate the Western hemisphere, our very survival is at stake and what your personal beliefs on 'social issues' are will be something you will be able to keep on discussing in jail or on your way to be beheaded...
And I'll be sure to introduce them to the real Rudolph Giuliani. The abortionist, gay union (same thing as gay marriage) gun grabbing New York Yankee.
So Jim, do you plan to stay home if its Rudy vs. Clinton?
Not to burst your bubble Melos, but according to a recent poll, when Republicans learn Rudy's liberal stands on social issues, his support drops significantly.
Absolutely not. I intend to see Rudy defeated in the primary!!
The 'logic' of those refusing to vote for Rudy:
Rudy is a too 'liberal' 'New Yorker' so they will place their de facto vote for missus clinton, a Stalinist New Yorker, albeit fake, (fake New Yorker, not fake Stalinist), who
as one-half of the 'twofer,' is the proximate cause of 9/11,
is an abuser of women in her own right,
is avidly pro-abortion,
would nominate justices in the mold of Ruth Bader Ginsburg,
would resume clinton sale of our nuclear secrets and mineral rights to the enemy,
would sic the IRS and the clinton 'secret police' on all opponents and critics,
would nationalize healthcare,
would decimate the military,
would reinstitute the clinton policy of ignoring of terrorism,
would raise taxes...
even as she and her rapist husband rake in millions in quid pro quos for their slush fund foundation,
would confiscate profits, end capitalism, if she could, etc., etc.
It does the conservative cause no good to become petulant and self-destructive.
Do conservatives really want
a Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court instead of an Alito, Roberts or Scalia?
marginalization, if not worse, of their religious beliefs?
a return to the amorality, immorality and corruption of the clinton years?
and G-d knows what depth of failure in the War on Terror?
I find it hard to believe that those people aren't able to discern the difference between Giuliani and Clinton. Frankly, if true, it is frightening.
I am advocating for Giuliani not because of his ideology. I am advocating for him because I believe he possesses the qualities that this country desperately needs in these perilous times... and because I believe he, unlike all the others, will win.
Heck yeah. I had jury duty this week in a very conservative county and as we sat for hours waiting to be called, they are mad as hell at republicans. But they did like Rudy (both dems and repubs).
I want us to win. We have to to stop the slide to socialism. Whatever it takes. If we can't stop it, we must slow it down til we can.
I'll vote Rudy or Mitt unless a conservative arrives that can win.
No chance of throwing a social conservative from FR into the primary pot?
I wish everyone who claims to be conservative would adopt that attitude. It doesn't have to be Rudy vs. Hillary in the general.
a pro-life Ronald Reagan provided 2 out of his 3 SCOTUS picks - pro-Roe. pro-life Bush 41 was 1 out of 2.
republicans don't nominate anti-Roe judges, they can't be confirmed anyway. they appoint constitutionalists (when they get it right, as Bush 43 has).
What I have a problem with are the "my-way-or-the-highway" anti Rudy-bots, who say that if he gets the nomination they'll stick their heads in the sand and not vote.
I will vote for ANY GOP nominee against ANY 'Rat.
I have NEVER voted for a Rat, but I have also NEVER stayed home - even in 1992 when I was plenty mad at GHWB.
And I would hope that those of you planning to vote for other candidates in the primaries can say the same.
There is now evidence that many Republicans do not know what Rudy really stands for. With all the time we have left, Rudy cannot count on this to last.
