Associated Content ^ | February 16, 2007 | Jeff Musall

With the bare fact being that no Republican in recent memory has been able to win a major contest without at least the tacit backing of the religious right, Rudy Guliani might be trying to buck that trend.

I don't believe we can win the fight against Islamic fanatics by ignoring God's Word and electing people who do the same.

I am convinced that this country is strong enough to elect a leader who will protect the lives of unborn children, defend the Constitution, and agressively fight the war on terror.

People who don't have the stomach to fight for our own rights at home will never be able to defend us abroad.

As far as getting the ball rolling in my state, I'm working on it. I've been living here for less than a year, so I've got a ways to go. I can guarantee you that I won't do it by sacrificing my principles in order to win elections.

Fine! Stay home on election day and bow to Hillary!

It seems that's more important than winning these days.

The dynamics of this election could change should Newt Gingrich decide to jump in the race. I would pay to see he and Rudy debate the issues.

Once again, you make the incorrect assumption that a liberal Republican is the only choice we have. You are wrong.

If it's Hillary or Rudy, I have no preference. One is just as bad as the other.

The thing is, it's comments like that which reveal the true motive behind the Giuliani candidacy. There's a small but vocal coaliation of people who are greedy, want low taxes, and don't want to be shot by terrorists. At the same time, they don't want to live their lives by any traditional sense of morality and either embrace (or don't care about) homosexuality, abortion, and all the other ills that plague our society. As a result, Christians and Chrisitan morality annoy them. It is this sort of a voter that speaks on behalf of the crossdressing mayor the loudest.

Worth repeating.

What a bunch of BULLIES.

They are the ones that continually refuse to compromise on a candidate that the majority can get behind.

Basically its black mail! Vote for whoever we pick and just "STFU"

And then wonder why they stay home. They can share the blame too for 06.

Apparently, nominating Rudy is more important than winning.

Here's an idea: support a conservative.

That's silly talk.

A Hillary administration would be a true nitemare. Ann Lewis as whitehouse spokesman....Bill smirking in the background.....Hillary packing the courts .....just her voice on the TV for the next 4-8 years.
And how about the poor Marines who would have to salute her everyday???
No difference between a Guliani or a Clinton Whitehouse..grow up.

Either would do grievous harm to the country.

Rudy would also do grievous harm to the GOP.

I won't take part in either mistake. (And don't give me that crap about not voting for Rudy is the same as voting for Hillary.)

"He's flying pretty high in the polls. Even in the south."

Temper that rosy outlook for Rudy at present with the surprising findings from a recent USA Today/Gallup poll showing only 1 in 5 Republicans are even aware of Giuliani's positions on social issues. If accurate, it certainly casts doubt that support for Rudy among Republican primary voters can hold at current levels as the primary approaches and his views on social issues become better known.

An excerpt from the article in USA TODAY with the poll results is provided below with my emphasis added:

As fondly remembered as Giuliani is for responding to Sept. 11, however, most Americans don't know much else about him. Barely one in five Republicans knew that he supports abortion rights and civil unions for same-sex couples, the USA TODAY poll found. Nearly as many thought he was "pro-life" as said he was "pro-choice."

When they were told about his stance on those issues, his star dimmed. One in five Republicans said his views would "rule him out as a candidate" they could support. That included one-third of those who attend church every week, an important base of the GOP that makes up a third of party loyalists.

"If we don't win the WOT .. NOTHING ELSE WILL MATTER .. we'll all be dead!"

Besides, Roe vs Wade kills more Americans every day than Mohamed Atta and his thugs did on 9/11. And if you think the mega-murder of the next generation of Americans is good for our national security, you need to think again.

Every single news story featuring Rudy brings up his social views. If someone doesn't know where Rudy has been on those issues by now I doubt they could find their own ass with their own hands much less find out where a polling site is.

If the poll can be trusted, that could indicate the Rudiflage campaign has been successful. He has been able to conceal his record.

As long as he isn't exposed, he will continue to do well.

That's one of the reasons for the all out attempt to silence, slander and shove aside anyone who doesn't sing in the choir.

Expect the campaign to redouble it's efforts as we come closer to the election.

I gotta agree with you on that. Foot-in-mouth BY A BABY just melts my heart.

Of course, it's not nearly so cute when a politician takes a munch of plantar sandwich.

Well .. like I said .. you can stay home and protect your precious principles and Hillary will be the next president .. and we will have 2-3 more cities hit with dirty bombs.

I guess that's your choice. Hope it's not the city you're in!
