With the bare fact being that no Republican in recent memory has been able to win a major contest without at least the tacit backing of the religious right, Rudy Guliani might be trying to buck that trend.

That is untrue and unfair.
Adopted left wing scare tactics, if you can't lead them to the ballot box, try to frighten them to it.
The leftists use it every election to frighten old people to the poles with threats of losing their social security, the Rudi Krishnas have just changed the theme, not the tune.
Expect the fear monger drumbeat to grow in volume until it is as thunder.
Cause that's all they got.

Kinda funny but a lot of us "anti Rudy" people actually find him quite likeable. We just don't want to find him in the oval office.
So true. When he was mayor of NYC, I lived in CT and upstate NY. I cheered him on all the time. He was an excellent mayor. But I will not vote for him as president.

I honestly cant tell you why they are bickering. Maybe they know some thing about Rudy we dont know.
My sister and I arent close (im an Evillll right winger).I only emailed her due to some stink on another thread regarding a pink triangle.
She asked me about my thoughts on Rudy and about the ongoing debate her and her friends were having.
I could ask, but that would require more exposure a mindset that is icky LOL I much more prefer holiday conversations.
I as well wouldnt put it past Rudy to change his mind once in office and dont trust him.

We are seeing the blow-back that I predicted in 03.
Given a place at the political table for the first time in over a decade, the far religious right immediately started acting like social democrats on steroids. They squandered their opportunity. The venom thet spewed spewed in the media in print and online from that particular segment of the G.O.P. especially in the Schiavo debacle was nothing short of hateful. What William Buckley called "the killing language.
I support the only legislator that has introduced a law to end abortions at the Federal Level and end Federal Judiciary review over State Law on such matters but you won't see social conservatives jumping on his bandwagon. He is not part of the Dobson Clan, and since his path to the same goal is different and because his motives and reasoning are different, then he is unacceptable to them.
Dobsons Focus on The Family joined with the horse racing tracks and Harrahs Casino to induce Bill Frist(R) to slip his personal morality Bill into a National Security Bill in the dead of night, so as to avoid open debate in the Senate on online gaming. Frists legacy will be for bringing out 25 to 39 year olds to vote in record numbers in the 2006 midterms. Would Rudy embrace such legislation? The Green Velvet Revolution produced several million new young democrat voters.
Libertarians can not stomach the Patriot Act, no matter how it is sold. A Patriot Act giving Government more power over it's citizens seems hypocritical when looked at side by side with the G.O.P. "open borders" policy. Rudy could pick up those votes but he would have to repudiate a big chunk of that onerous Bill. That seems unlikely. He needs to promote a border policy that those living in the Southwest can live with. He can't just write them off.
I could go on and on...our Party has not served us well.
The most conservative(defined as classic liberal) candidate running for office today is Dr. Ron Paul(r)
The GOP coalition has not been this fractured since 1976.

Basically giving the finger to the religious right. The fact you think he's doing so only reveals your paranoia.

Ron Paul has joined the ranks of the other traitors to this country and has therefor killed any chance that he might have ever had to get my vote. I don't care what positions he takes or what he does, he can never undo the damage that he has done.

The fact you think he's doing so only reveals your paranoia. I frankly don't care what Rudy does. Since I do not want him as the candidate, a stupid move like this works for me.

It's redefining itself....and unfortunately you're not going to like it. The Country has changed...the Republican party will change. Maybe you should start your own party, and I say that will all due respect.

I remain unconvinced that Giuliani would push for a Scalia or an Alito for USSC judge, no matter what he says. Why would he want to appoint judges that oppose his political position on abortion, gays, guns...?
Has he ever said a word against
- Roe v. Wade,
- Doe v. Bolton,
- Bowers v. Hardwick,
- Romer v. Evans,
- Lawrence v. Texas...etc?
No, he has NOT seen fit to oppose the content of any of the outrageous instances of left-wing judicial activism in the last 20 years.
And he would do a U-turn on this, and oppose his own political interests....why?

THe country hasnt changed, republicans havent changed.
You simply want it to be so, so you continue to claim it as fact.
Im pretty sure you took a wrong turn down hall. But what do I know.

GEt nit picky, you knew what I meant. The Country, as in its people, its core values.
You can prop your little leftist candidate up all you want, but he will not fly, not now, not ever (which I notice is a pattern for you)

"...activists throwing a baby-fit about 2-3 issues: abortion, gays, and maybe guns." Oh, I'm willing to pitch a fit about illegal immigration, the First Amendment, Campaign Finance "Reform," and Federal judgeships, too.
I'm a 7-issue fanatic on all these teensy-weensy life-and-death, liberty, and national-sovereignty issues where Rudy is wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, and wrong.
He was very good on anti-crime issues in NYC. I'd stand up and cheer if he'd run for mayor again. He can sure handle Brooklyn.
