"What we're trying to do is make sure people understand we're supporting the troops, we're protecting the troops, but on the other hand, we're going to stop this surge.

"He did not elaborate but went on to talk about services enjoyed by U.S. troops in Iraq but denied to many Iraqis."

Our part of Pa (I live in Indiana County, I assume 4yearlurker lives in my county or in Cambria county just to the east.) A lot of the people in our counties were immigrants or children of immigrants (myself included) who were/are coal miners and steel workers. They looked to the unions to protect them. That union mentality is ingrained in people. Even my aged mom, retired from the maintenance dept. of our local university, still has that mentality. It's sad, really. Pathetic.
If you look at a blue/red map of Pa., you will note that MOST of the counties went red at the last Presidential election. Unfortunately too many union hacks in Pittsburgh and dead voters in Philly in the last Nov. election. That's probably how Santorum lost and Rendell won again. There's something terribly amiss in a state that will RE-elect a traitor like Murtha and NOT re-elect a good man like Santorum.
Murtha is seemingly trying to do anything to combat the effort in Iraq. This comment is indicative of his lust to defame the war effort by any means possible. I was horrified that he intends to ignore the choice of service members by placing restrictions on people going back to Iraq, even if they volunteer. This move is criminal. It will get people killed due to a lack of qualified NCO's and officers.

Murtha and Pelosi appear to be drunk with power. Does Murtha actually think that his legislation will actually pass through both the House and the Senate? It might get through the house, especially since we have 17 treasonous Rinos to contend with, but it won't get through the senate.
Next time I have to go to the bathroom I'll be thinking of Murtha.
Living in palaces??? What the hell is he talking about. In my 13 month tour, I did not see anyone living in palaces. The ones that were still basically intact were used as office spaces. What a first class jerk and TRAITOR!!
