Clang!
The man who once went 0-for-17 in an NBA regular-season game has thrown up another brick.
Only this one didn't bounce harmlessly off the rim. Tim Hardaway's latest chuck was a brick thrown right at the gay community. What did the gay community ever do to Tim Hardaway, you ask? Uh, exist, I guess.
"I hate gay people," Hardaway announced proudly during a sports radio interview Wednesday.
Doesn't get much clearer than that. So much for love the sinner hate the sin.
Discussing former NBA center John Amaechi's revelation that he is gay, Hardaway said, "You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States."
The world or the United States? Man, we haven't seen this kind of tough talk against homosexuality since Reverend Ted Haggard's pre-suspensions sermons.

Everybody's hopping on the bandwagon. At least it's a break from Anna Nicole.
I'm thinking I may be homophobic as well. Is that bad?
Well, Hardaway should be very popular on Freeper...Not much 'hate the sin, love the sinner " here. Just a lot of really nasty and obscene sexual remarks every time the word gay or homosexual is mentioned.
Its the one time where Christian love takes a vacation here.
Oh here we go. The I am enlightened and must condemn the thoughts of another column. Do they actually feel better after pounding out such dreck?
Please there must be one place where degeneracy is called degeneracy?
I do not need no stinking lecture on political correctness from any of Rupert's stinking networks, let alone the routinely classless and tasteless Fox Sports.
Homosexuals... as I've matured(?), I've gone from fearing them, to hating them, to tolerating them, to ignoring them, to pitying them.
A+
I think it is wrong to hate people. But you know, if I knew a man who was wooing girls pretending to care, and then dropping them when they gave in and had sex with him, I would say I dispised him and wouldn't want to be in the same room with him and wouldn't want him on "my team".
But this man I describe didn't do anything criminal. He satisfied his sexual urges the way he thought reasonable. Who am I to judge him, or to even suggest that I wouldn't want to associate with him?
If Tim Hardaway finds homosexual sex disgusting, and can't stand the idea of being in the same room with people who would stick their member into the anus of another person of the same sex, that's his choice, and he has a right in this country to associate freely with whoever he wants to associate with, and avoid anybody he wants to avoid.
The rest of us have the right to ignore him, to consider him a hateful bigot, to refuse to buy products he endorses, and to not allow ourselves to be caught in the same room with him, if that's what we want to do.
Maybe I should feel bad that I'm not disgusted to be in the same room with a doctor that makes a living ripping live babies from the wombs of ignorant women in the name of the false notion of "choice". Maybe I should find outrage in my heart like Tim's for hanging around with people who would exploit women for sex, who cheat on their wives or husbands, or who have an endless parade of meaningless sexual encounters.
I'm not a hating person, or personally judgmental. But maybe I should get worked up when I see parents failing to teach their children manners, or sacrificing their children to the state-run day-care while they go off to live their lives unencumbered by their choice to have offspring. And yes, maybe I should take a more active role in denouncing the gay agenda, or the notion that having sex with another man is just a normal act which should be embraced by society.
If I was in a room with a man kissing another man, I would walk out. I don't watch gay scenes on TV or in movies. I'm not afraid of it, I don't think it will make me gay, I simply find it personally and deeply offensive.
The Guy plays a game for a living in a league filled with thugs and gang members. If it were not for early parole half of the league would be in timeout. Why do I care what one of them thinks?
No, I don't believe that one does. It is not hard to understand why some people might hold bad feelings toward the "gay community."
One hint is to be found in the very term "gay community." One does not (yet) hear people talk about the "alcoholic community" or the "drug-addict community." Yet many believewith good reasonthat sodomy is very similar to alcoholism, addiction, and other self-destructive behavior. To dignify it with the term "community" is offensive and dishonest.
Should Mr. Hardaway have said that he hates homosexuals? Perhaps not. He should know that such blunt talk would get him nowhere. And yet his reaction is understandable. For the past 25 years, homosexual activists have been very much in our faces, insisting that everyone accept, embrace, and even celebrate their "lifestyle." Those who disagree are called homophobes and bigots. In some places, promoters of sodomy have tried to use the coercive power of the state against those who disagree with them. After a while, it can get tiresome.
So I am inclined to cut Mr. Hardaway some slack on this one.
So good to have someone not afraid to speak their mind. I don't know about anyone else but im getting sick and tired of hearing the day in and day out drivel of those promoting that deathstyle. They vilify anyone who doesn't keep their mouth shut about their twisted ways.
It is nice to see someone who can get off their wimpy politically correct mindset and say what everyone else really thinks anyway. You want to come out of the closet, then your propensity to twistedness and wierdness should be the story, not the fact that others can't stand to hear that you have now decided to take it in the a&&.
Amen to you, you said it better then I could have. Thank you Trailoftears and ditto for me.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Nobody has asked the right question. Why does ANYONE care if anyone comes out of the closet? A persons sexual orientation is their business and the rest of us could care less. Gay people are attention whores who need to realize the rest of society does not care who you have sex with. Hardaway was probably frustrated because the news people actually find this to be a story. If Billy down the street admits to touching Bobby who is going to care? I do not announce what women I have slept with or my preferred sexual orientation. You know why? BC NOBODY CARES! I guess it is only freedom of speech when you follow the ball and chain political cleansing BS. I don't hate gay people but I sure as hell choose not to be around them. Not because I am a homophobe but becuase it is my personal choice! All you liberals crying foul need to shut up and David Stern needs to hit puberty so his you know what fall down finally.
i don't have a problem with a man expressing his views, though i personally try not to hate people.
i read a verse in the Bible recently where Jesus said something like 'you will see tax-collectors and prostitutes entering the kingdom of heaven before you'. that doesn't mean He approved of these lifestyles, He just meant nobody is beyond hope.
well, maybe tax-collecting is an unpardonable offense. =)
How different is Hardaway's statement vs. many Democratz stating their "hatred" for GWB?
How about members of the ILF and the ALF bombing and burning things they don't like?
How about those poor members of black society killing and robbing members of other ethnicities?
How about the Islamo-nuts beheading those who are not exactly the same as them, be they Americans, Kurds or whatever?
Hatred can wear an awful lot of hats.
Me, I hate liver and Commies.
