That's not true.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to express it, but I don't think that anyone who advocates amnesty, allowing people who illegally entered our country to stay and have expedited citizenship, will truly defend our borders.

He was just on O'Reilly saying we need to secure the border. I don't think he is a liar.

I think 9/11 changed everything. Including Rudy. Don't you? Many here like those on the far left seem to be living in a pre 9/11 world. Where we are not at war and our biggest battles are with queers ,,,,,,,and that with a decree a president can outlaw abortion.

"When has Rudy tried to kill any Islamic extremists".....well he was a mayor not a Navy Seal.

However at personal risk to his own life he took down the mob prolly saving thousands.

Also he had the cajones to call Arafat a terrorist and kick him out on his ass....to the howls of the lib press.

I don't think he is a liar, but what does secure the border mean to him? He is against building a fence and for amnesty that doesn't sound very secure to me.

You can brush me off and think I'm just one of those ultra-conservative whackos if you wish, but reasonable people can find lots of reasons not to support Guiliani as our Presidential nominee.

Maybe we should just kick back and wait what they have to say. Rudy was just in CA saying we need a "High Tech Fence"

I stand corrected on that one. It does sound like he has modified his past views on the border fence. I'd rather not spend so much money or so much time building a completely 'high tech' fence though. In places along the border it might be called for, but just a basic fence needs to be put up soon.

The San Diego fence is corrugated metal with some stadium lights and it's tremedously reduced illegal crossings in that section of the border.

You are very wrong. Without the enthusiastic support of conservatives, republicans DO NOT WIN. Witness Ford's defeat in 1976, Bush I, defeat in 1992, Doles defeat in 1996. Conservatives support does not alway engender victory but it loss assures defeat. Republican would be wise to learn that lesson. Conservatives make up by far the largest portion of the party and republicans do not win without their support.

A moderate republican in the WH with a strong Congress and Senate will not screw over the country anywhere close to what a democrat will do.
***That would make a great campaign slogan for Rudy McRomney. Sorry, but I'm just not interested in voting for a candidate who "will not screw over the country" as bad as a democrat; I'm looking for someone who would give this country a boost of confidence. Someone who says, "America is great because America is good."

A recent USA TODAY/Gallup poll indicates only 20% of Republicans are even aware of Giuliani's positions on social issues.
***Thanks for posting this. Bump for later reference.

I think that the problem that many conservatives have with Rudy is that they sense that the political pendulum is starting to swing back to the left after 12 years of being on the right. They don't like that, and so they want to put up some Great Conservative Hope like Duncan Hunter to help put the breaks on that.
***Baloney. We're pushing for our candidate because we agree with him. We hear a lot of tootyfruityrudybots pushing their candidate because he supposedly can win -- where's the passion for the cause? They're finding out quickly that just because he has good poll numbers with the MSM, it doesn't translate into base support. If Rockefeller republicans lose their energized base, they will get smoked by the democrats because it's so difficult to tell the two sides apart for the average voter. When the demorat party starts losing elections and knows that it needs to be more fiscally conservative, it will target the Rockefeller Republicans, not the social conservatives.

You're right, politicians never lie and never say anything to get elected.

I'm also a conservative first - until I get into the voting booth. Then I will have to vote for the candidate that I think can win in a national election. At this point Rudi seems to me to be the best choice to win.

I fear the third party movement may loose this election if we believe what this story says - and I don't believe anything I see in the media - they are running scared because they think that Rudy cant beat their precious Hillary.

Lies, all lies -- I refuse to listen to polls.

Are you saying that you will not vote for Rudy or a third party? What are you going to do? Stay home and fulfill your own prophesy?

I suggest that this is a leftist motivated poll and you should ignore it.

I agree 100%.

We live in a one issue world right now. NOTHING else matters right now. THIS IS WAR and Islamic fascists, or what ever you want to call them, are the enemy. Not "queers".

The Democrat party is the enemy's fifth column and we must keep then out of power at all cost.

I totally agree. And if the Republican Party leaders don't get in touch really fast with the border issue, they will lose the Southwest the way the Democrats have lost the South. A non-conservative Republican simply will not win in 2008. I don't know why any Republican would let the liberal media choose their array of candidates. McCain vs. Gulliani? Neither even qualifies for me. Even if one of them were to win what would have to be the most pathetic primary race of my lifetime, neither could hold enough of the base to win the general election. And of course the rest of the ticket would suffer from that as well. If someone is looking for a genuine Republican to support, please realize that the MSM will not help you find one. My support is for Duncan Hunter or, if necessary, someone else like him. But if John McCreep is "our" candidate, believe me, I will draw cartoons on that ballot sooner than vote for him.

And I don't fear a lick about "conservatives" staying home. Their number will be far outweighed by the number of middle-roaders who vote for the GOP candidate.

If it works out like you expect, then expect the GOP to be utterly devastated in the down-ticket races. Losses at the local and state levels will set the party back at least a decade.

Great, so have a choice between pulling the lever for Hillary or a republican that you don't agree with on issues but Hillary is hands down the worse of the two.

Do you:

1) Vote (R) to block her?

or

2) Vote 3rd party or stay home and by default support her candidacy?

Few American mayors have had the opportunity to kill Islamic extremists. Probably even fewer have the authority to do so, barring any violation of the law. Not only did Rudy Giuliani not knowingly harbor any enemy fighters or law breakers, he has been a consistent supporter of the war. I have every reason to believe he will fight one hell of a war against Islamic totalitarians, should he become president.

If you think he's no different from Hillary in that regard, you're simply ignoring Clintonian history, throwing your hands in the air, and screaming "I give up."

I will vote third party rather then Rino Rudy. He is not the filp side of the same coin as Hitlary, he is the opposite cheek of the same gludious maximus.
