And I don't fear a lick about "conservatives" staying home. Their number will be far outweighed by the number of middle-roaders who vote for the GOP candidate.

If it works out like you expect, then expect the GOP to be utterly devastated in the down-ticket races. Losses at the local and state levels will set the party back at least a decade.

If I have to choose between having a Republican president and have lots of local GOP winners, in today's climate, I'll take the former.
