For some unfathomable reason, Charlie Rose apparently had John Mellencamp of all people on his show to talk about the US reaction to terrorism after 9/11. What followed, was the pacifistic, left-wing view of foreign policy at its worst. Read it and weep (I transcribed this from the video).
Charlie Rose: So, After 9/11 what was inappropriate for you...
John Cougar Mellencamp: It was inappropriate from the beginning.
Charlie Rose: Afghanistan was inappropriate?
John Cougar Mellencamp: Everything was inappropriate.
Charlie Rose: If we knew where Osama Bin Laden was, to have bombed his hideout would have been inappropriate?
John Cougar Mellencamp: Yes.
Charlie Rose: What would have been appropriate? Turn the other cheek?
John Cougar Mellencamp: No, I don't think so. I think what would be appropriate is exactly what we're going to have to do right now?
Charlie Rose: Talk?
John Cougar Mellencamp: Go talk to people. Go talk to people.
Charlie Rose: Now, who would we go talk to? Would we call him up and go, "Osama can we talk about this? We're not really happy about this. Can we talk about this?"
John Cougar Mellencamp: No...
...
John Cougar Mellencamp: ...You'd have to talk to the Muslims. You would have to talk to people and say, "Why are we so far apart here?"
I made an analogy that made a lot of people mad four years ago. I said, "If you were in a family and the little brother did something to the big brother and you beat the hell out of the little brother, they'd put you in jail. They would put you in jail for being a bad parent."
...
Charlie Rose: I'll make the question easy. Suppose they had not gone to Iraq and had just limited it to Afghanistan. Would that have been OK for you and your definition of pacifism? The answer is, "no."
John Cougar Mellencamp: The answer is, "no." Because you have to be diplomatic until there is no other way and then you fight. That didn't happen. That didn't happen. That never happened.
Charlie Rose: And that would that have been true after Pearl Harbor for you?
John Cougar Mellencamp: Perhaps.
Charlie Rose: What do you mean perhaps? What's different?
John Cougar Mellencamp: Well, I don't have enough information...
No kidding? Thanks for clearing that up for us.
Even with knowledge, he'd be part of the a-hole group that is still apologizing for us going nucular on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (which was done to avoid a larger war and ground invasion that would cost more lives than the multitude that we had already lost).
Cougar Mellonhead? I'd rather listen to Bobcat Goldthwait...
I liked most of his early music, but he's as dumb as a box of rocks.
A rebel without a clue.
He has made millions of dollars talking about his experiences "fighting authority"; yet, ironically, though he proclaimed how "authority always wins", he never learned that lesson: it was he who has always won. Most young adult males are forced to face the self-destructive consequences of their immature rebellion against their fathers. He, OTOH, has made a lifetime of unwise decisions, and much like Anna Nicole, he has been rewarded at every turn for bad decisions.
I'm not surprised by anything he says, frankly. He's just another rock and roll moron.
Or, the animals
"You'd have to talk to the Muslims. You would have to talk to people and say, "Why are we so far apart here?"
(Osama answers) "I don't know. Why don't you come a little closer. Say, look at my brand new sword."
He'll roll over and stick his ass up in the air for any Democrat, all the while pretending to be a "freethinker".
I am so glad I don't support anyone who made a record after 1965.
LOL. You've missed some good music, and not all of it left wing pablum.
Another has-been that CMT and GAC plays the videos of every hour or so.
Didn't one of his band members get picked up for child porn?
Muslims: We are so far apart because you won't convert immediately and without complaint to Islam -- and failing that, you won't die quickly and willingly.
People were thinking you were banned round here.
I am always banned around here.
Real name Johnny Cougar. A carnie.
Yep, here he is - Eric Rosser, Mellencamp's keyboardist, the first pedophile to appear on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives List.

Why are we even interviewing this dumb little megalomaniac jerk.
Well, I don't have enough information...No wonder Chevy's getting whomp&ssed by Toyota. The may have a rice diet, but they know engineering and marketing. Chevy's too wrapped up with opinion leaders like the Mellonhaid who never have enough information.
