It's easy to be callous until it's you (or your loved one) face down on that prison floor.

I've been to too many funerals to give a damn about this guy. If it was a loved one, I would have been kind enough to let him know what his future was going to look like at DUI Numero Uno.

Your response to:

"I've been sentenced for a D.U.I. offense. My 3rd one."

Was: "I ran out of sympathy about right there..."

So, with that we are to take it that you think he deserved what he got when he got raped, repeatedly.

I just can't imagine any true conservative believing in a sentence for a crime that says: "we hereby sentence you to 15 years of nightly rape orgies with you as the victim". Because that is what your knowledge combined with your lack of "sympathy" says. Only its not lack of sympathy, its lack of basic, instinctual human compassion.

I have spoken to several men who have been in prison and they say the rape concept is way overblown

I've heard the same thing however the police love this particular urban legend. Nothing gets a suspect singing faster than the threat of being raped in jail.

I'm sure it does happen depending on the jail but if you put many criminals together in one location you're going to experience all kinds of crime, rape being one of them.

Hardly, I ended up in Allston, MA (Boston) jail for 12+ hours on a case of looking vaguely (very tall, big, beard) like the guy who robbed a taxi.

I suppose this has happened to you over and over because "it's very easy" for that to happen? I doubt it.

This is a sad story and one well known to those in our congress and senate who have screamed about 'torture' at Gitmo rather than clean up their own prisons in their respective states. To take it one step further, Border Patrol Agent Ignacio Ramos was put in harms way by Johnny Sutton and a liberal judge - they allowed him to be put in a Texas prison where most inmates are illegal Mexicans, knowing they would 'punish' Ramos…they nearly killed him. Wardens let the inmates run the inside of most of our prisons making them the most despicable and dangerous holding places on this earth. Next time we hear some bleeding heart pleading for the terrorist held in the Country Club called Guantánamo Bay, send them a copy of this man’s story; Gitmo has made a laughing stock of America.

We need many more men like Sheriff Joe Aparo running American prisons.

Those tempted to gloat would be well advised to remember that it is very easy to end up in slam in the United States, even if you're 100% innocent.

unless your an illegal....

Solution? Don't violate the law. Don't get thrown in prison.

I know a real good guy who went to prison for the lies of his wife. He didn't deserve it. He also didn't deserve to get raped and killed there. He violaed no laws, but was convicted by a scumbag DA on the lies of his wife.

The only quote coming from Jesse Jackson that I can even remotely agree on is this:

"Capital punishment turns the state into a murderer. But imprisonment turns the state into a gay dungeon-master.”

I'm pro-death penalty but definitely anti-rape in prison. this is one instance where I wonder if anybody has tried to sue the government on violating the "cruel and unusual" punishment clause due to rape.

And yes this is why I never would do anything that would put me in jail. You may say this is a deterring practice, to me it shows that if I ever decide to break the law, it will be by doing something that damn well guarantees to get me the death penalty.

I'd rather die a man than survive as someone's woman.

Admirable ... but beside the point. Even if you were in there for murder and sentenced to death, the State has an obligation to ensure that you are not beaten, raped, or murdered while in its custody.

they would first have to kill me

And they very well might. You could ask Irv Rubin about it, but it's a little hard after he "cut his own throat" and then just happened to jump off a railing in federal prison.

Tell that to the Duke LAX players that very nearly ended up in prison for a long time (might still do some time).

Nobody ends up in Federal prison for a 3rd time DUI. This letter is obviously fake, and the offense, DUI, was picked in order for it to be a "it could happen to you" situation for the reader.

No, I said I ran out of sympathy. In other words, I don't give a damn about him or the plight he placed himself in.

All the race based gangs are evil, including the white ones.
Why is that even an issue?

"I've been sentenced for a D.U.I. offense. My 3rd one." He learned nothing about the first and second time? The guy is not too bright and sorry, but I can't muster up any empathy about a rape in prison story, when they start off the story about a guy and it being his 3rd DUI offense. The guy could have wiped out an entire family or more, while he carelessly drove in a drunken stupor for the 3rd time.

Yeah, I mean we wouldn't actually want to FIX the prison system....

"Where are you going to go where no one can hear you scream in a prison?"

You assume that stifling those screams will be necessary. And keep in mind that some guards rape, too.

The part in bold may be one of the dumber things I've ever seen posted here.

Then you must not read your own posts. Ever heard of the Texas Three?
