The US military has accused the "highest levels" of Iran's government of supplying increasingly sophisticated roadside bombs to Iraq's insurgents. Senior defence officials told reporters in Baghdad that the bombs were being used to deadly effect, killing more than 170 US troops since June 2004. The weapons known as "explosively formed projectiles" (EFPs) are capable of destroying an Abrams tank. US claims the bombs were smuggled from Iran cannot be independently verified.
The US officials, speaking off camera on condition of anonymity, said that EFPs had also injured more than 620 US personnel since June 2004. They said US intelligence analysts believed the bombs were manufactured in Iran and secretly sent into Iraq on the orders of senior officials in Tehran. The US has claimed in the past that Iranian weapons were being used in Iraq, but have never before accused Iranian government officials of being directly involved. Truck bomb In the latest violence in Iraq , at least 15 people were killed when a suicide bomber drove a vehicle laden with explosives into a police station near the town of Tikrit. At least 25 people were injured in the attack on the station in Adwar, about 175km (110 miles) north of Baghdad. The casualties are reported to include prisoners held in cells at the police station, as well as civilian visitors.
Elsewhere, the US military said it was checking a report that an Apache helicopter had come down near the town of near Taji, about 20km (12 miles) north of Baghdad. The blast at the police station happened at about 0800 (1100GMT) as police were arriving for work, Capt Abdel-Samad Mohammed was quoted by the Associated Press as saying. The bomber drove a small truck that was packed with explosives covered by hay, and the force of the blast caused the building to collapse, the officer said.

Well your FWIW seems like it may be WAL (worth a lot).
The new moon means attack under total darkness?
Our guided missle ships will target what? My understanding was that the Persians greatest strength was their surface to ship missile batteries along the Hormuz.
Are the "boomers" ground troops.
Ironically a movie about a war against the Persians will be in theaters at that time.

The press is the propaganda arm of the American left and they have an agenda...see this:
"Lord how I wish Ronald Reagan was my President at this exact moment in time."
Well, I like RR too, but even he did nothing when close to 300 Marines were killed in Lebanon in 1983.
They'll readily advance whatever denials the Iranians offer.

*****Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left ****
I read Horowitz's book when it first came out and it confirmed everything I was thinking.
If you haven't read his book "Radical Son" I urge you to do so. You will gain an historical perspective on how long the treasonous left has been undermining this country.
The left is opening the doors to Islam and the agenda is to kill this beloved country from within.
There will be no big tank battles.
************************AN EXCERPT ************************
William Caldwell said in a press conference in Baghdad. "The Iranian suspects detained in Arbil have confirmed these reports and we have found with them maps and explosives-related material. Those Iranians were trying to get rid of these documents in the lavatories," Caldwell added. He said "the Iraqi government has notified us that they (the Iranians) were not diplomats and had no passports."
The way left of the party is already on it. They have been launching pre-emptive strikes against action against Iran for months now.
See link at #27....
Maybe the NYT will leak this intel??
haha
I wouldn't go that far.
He was focused on bigger issues at the time.
Does anyone remember what the "Iron Curtain" was?
We must inflict pain on Iran. It's a matter of self-defense.
If there is no price to be paid for killing our sons, then it will continue and get worse. They must pay dearly.
1. Doh!!
2. Notice not one liberal politician has condemned Iran for supplying weapons and material to kill our troops? They can keep up their idiotic anti-war stance. But if they are truly 'supporting the troops', why no outrage or condemnation of Iran from the Dims? We all know the answer.
They already HAVE been attacking these accusations, for WEEKS...

Re: Bush's Illegal War - Target Iran (3 Ratings) 38 minutes ago There are volumes of evidence that Bush lied us into Iraq with his pre-war rhetoric, i.e. a mushroom cloud, the Downing Street Memo that talks about fixing the facts and intelligence around the policy.
Damn right Bush lied. Now he thinks we are so stupid as to follow his shrill warnings about Iran. Well he has no credibility here nor in the international community who view him as some kind of an unthinking nut.

One has to remember those beating the war drums to attack Iran are basically agents for another nation in the middle east. The Isreal stock market is up 300 percent since the successful dumping of the bush administration to attack Iraq. There are serious profits to be made in another war.
The Hate Bush/Hate America Propoganda NEVER STOPS, and goes on 24/7...
No lie is left unturned, no conspiracy left unbelieved, and it spread EVERYWHERE.
An easily shouted phrase like "Illegal War For Oil!!!" is much easier for the sheeple to digest, than a breathy (And Boring) explanation of why anything is in America's interests....

If Tehran Only Knew, what will happen if there is no regime change in Iran.:

"In America, we lie for tactical reasons, stating over and over that military action against Iran is unlikely. However in Iran, out of ignorance, they reiterate that American military action against their country is impossible because the US is "unable" to do so!
We say and hope our analysis is wrong. A possible military strike against Iranian nuclear facilities is in the final stages. Unless a political miracle occurs that revives the halted dialog between Iran and the international community, Iran and its neighboring countries should not be surprised by a scenario that includes American military action. "
Just maybe, President Bush is purposely allowing the media and the left to spout their garbage in order to create the illusion that we are completely incapable of taking any action against Iran. It would come as a complete surprise if we did take action.

Then, we show the suicidal Islamofascist serial killers in charge of Iran, what real nuclear weapons will do.

Iranian Map: After the above!

Summary of US military buildup in the Persian Gulf area since the first of the year:
Over the past month, the U.S. Navy has given orders to the U.S.S. John Stennis carrier battle group, based in Bremerton, WA, to steam toward the Persian Gulf, where it will join the U.S.S. Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Navy sources say the Pentagon is getting ready to announce the dispatch of a third carrier battle group the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan from San Diego. That will make three carrier battle groups in the region starting at around the end of January.
Oh, and along with them is the amphibious assault group led by the U.S.S. Boxer, which can land several thousand U.S. Marines to seize and destroy strategic sites near the coast at a moments notice. (Busheir? Bandar Abbas? Jask? The three Persian Gulf islands Iran seized from the UAE in the 1990s and has since fortified to harass Gulf shipping? Your pick).
Other recent US Naval and Marine Corp additions to handle/control/kill the Iranian Serial Killers:
Bataan Transits Suez Canal, Enters U.S. 5th Fleet Story Number: NNS070130-14 Release Date: 1/30/2007 7:00:00 PM
By Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class (SW) Joanne De Vera, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/ Commander, U.S. 5th Fleet Public Affairs
USS BATAAN, At Sea (NNS) -- The multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) and the Sailors and Marines of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) successfully transited the Suez Canal on Jan. 30 and entered the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
While in the region, the Bataan Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) will conduct maritime security operations (MSO).
MSO help set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment, as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. These operations deny international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.
U.S. 5th Fleets area of operations encompasses 2.5 million square miles of water and includes the Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman and parts of the Indian Ocean.
Well continue our role as the surface warfare commander and the air defense commander for the Bataan Expeditionary Strike Group, said Cmdr. Jon Carriglitto, Bataans operations officer. Together with the MEU, we bring the ability to insert a quick, capable amphibious force where its needed.
While in theater, approximately 6,000 U.S. Sailors and Marines assigned to the ESG and the 26th MEU provide the combatant commander a versatile sea-based force that can be tailored to a variety of missions. The Bataan ESG has the capabilities to support MSO, combat operations and humanitarian assistance/disaster relief.
Bataan ESGs presence in the U.S. 5th Fleet will require the crew to conduct what it does best: well deck and flight deck operations, said Carriglitto. Well be conducting varsity-level operations, but much of it falls right in line with our ongoing training, so I know were ready to meet those challenges.
Bataan, commanded by Capt. David Hulse, left its homeport of Norfolk on Jan. 4 for a regularly-scheduled deployment as the flagship of the Bataan ESG. The ESG is comprised of the Bataan Strike Group, commanded by Commodore Donna Looney, commander, Bataan Strike Group/Amphibious Squadron 2, and the 26th MEU based out of Camp Lejeune, N.C., commanded by Col. Gregg Sturdevant.
In addition to Bataan, the strike group consists of USS Shreveport (LPD 12), USS Oak Hill (LSD 51), USS Vella Gulf (CG 72), USS Nitze (DDG 94), USS Underwood (FFG 36), and USS Scranton (SSN 756).

"Due to rapidly developing events in Somalia, U.S. Central Command has tasked USS Dwight D. Eisenhower to join USS Bunker Hill, USS Ramage, USS Anzio and USS Ashland to support ongoing maritime security operations off the coast of Somalia," said Navy Lt. Cmdr. Charlie Brown, a spokesman for 5th Fleet in Bahrain.

LINKED NEWS ANALYSIS
Military and intelligence sources continue to tell me that preparations are advancing for a war with Iran starting possibly as early as mid-to-late February. The sources offer some differences of opinion over whether Bush might cite a provocation from Iran or whether Israel will take the lead in launching air strikes against Irans nuclear facilities.
A Quote from: The Dogs of War - Lessons of the 20th Century. By Victor Davis Hanson, (author most recently of Carnage and Culture: Landmark Battles in the Rise of Western Power):
"I would not wish to fight the United States - either militarily, politically, or culturally. For every threat, our history teaches us that Americans offer not just a rejoinder, but the specter of a devastating answer of a magnitude almost inconceivable to those now chanting and threatening in the streets of the Middle East.
Do they have any idea of what sort of dangerous people we really are? Do they understand the history of the names of those ships now off their coasts, like the USS Peleliu or Enterprise, or the pedigree of the 82nd or 101st Airborne?"
In spite of all the reality above, the insane Islamofascist serial killers in charge of Iran are going ahead with naval war games in the Persian Gulf.

Missile units of the air and naval forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) will begin a specialized wargame in southern and central parts of Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman from Wednesday.
The announcement follows mounting tension with the United States, which has said it will step up pressure on Iran. This has included despatching a second aircraft carrier to the Gulf, a major shipping lane for oil exports.
The exercises will be staged on Wednesday and Thursday by the missile units of the Guards' naval and air forces, the semi-official Fars news agency reported, citing a Guards source.
Hey, what is causing all those bright lights and loud noises!
The nuclear bomb used at Hiroshima was puny compared to what we have ready for the Islamofascist serial killers in Iran:
Atomic blast in Hiroshima

An atomic blast demolished the centre of Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6,1945. Japan agreed to surrender after a second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki on August 9.

Not a bad guess, as far as analysis of our side's capabilities go.
Three other things you're going to want to take in to account may change that date. Namely, our will to fight, the enemy's will to fight, and the enemy's capabilities.
First, let's look at the enemy's capabilities. They have the ability to close the Strait of Hormuz and disrupt the global oil trade. They have the ability to turn a hidden, maliciously meddling presence in Iraq into a full scale mid-80's Lebanon civil war footing. They also have government sponsored, professional terrorists who can hit us at home in ways that al-Qa'ida dreams of.
Do they have the will to do any of this? Not now. They don't want to escalate. They want to use the Chinese water torture on us, and make us leave by leveraged pressure. If we openly attack them, all that will change. They really don't want to get bombed, but if they do, they won't just lie there and take it like Bosnia or Iraq. They do have options.
Finally, our will to fight is low. There's scant foreign or domestic support for an attack on Iran. That support will vaporize if the attacks don't succeed, or if Iran is able to bring the war home to the average American through higher gas prices, a real civil war in Iraq or terrorist attacks on the mainland.
Now, before everyone gets all hot and bothered about how I don't realize the perils of a nuclear armed Iran, I agree. A nuclear armed Iran is a flat out nightmare for the world. I just don't see our leaders having the intestinal fortitude to do anything about it. It's a horrendous risk to take, all for a roll of the dice at averting a horrific future. If we were really serious about this risk, nothing less than a ground invasion will suffice.
I just don't think we as a nation are up for another roll of the dice. I think our political leaders have assessed us as unwilling to get involved in another fight, and are going to try and hope intimidation works instead. History has shown that it won't, but it won't stop us from trying.
"He was focused on bigger issues at the time."
Our military was not directly engaged in pressuring the Soviets.
Reagan could have made a big statement as to what the consequences were for slaughtering American Marines in their sleep.
He failed.
