Breaking on Fox News. Giuliani Files Statement of Candidacy for President
No article yet.
Rudy is too liberal, but his RINOdom is as nothing compared to McCain. McCain is still trading at 38% probability of the GOP nomination at Intrade. Just as was Carthage, McCain must be destroyed.
"Rush saying the same thing -- we need a person like Reagan on the world scene in the future to fight the WOT. Problem is there is no Reagan out there right now. Rudy may be the right person and can overcome objections of social conservatives by committing to appoint people like Roberts and Scalia. But Rush finishes by saying it is way too early for him to be talking about this (the 2008 election) on his show all the time let alone endorsing anyone."
Rush said this? Wow- this is HUGE for Rudy since Rush obviously detests McCain like most of us do. The importance of the fact that Rush can say that he MIGHT support Giuliani can not be overstated. Glad to see Rush is pragmatic enough to realize you have to pick your battles in the interests of the greater good (i.e. avoiding Hildebeast as president).
Oh I'm sure they'll be gracing us with their presence any minute now. I don't see why this thread would be any different than every single other Rudy thread ever.
I'm looking for someone who would:
a) uphold traditional morality (against abortion and homosexuality),
b) be strong on national defense and security (against terrorism and illegal immigration), and
c) want to reduce the size, scope, and spending of Big Government (against federal involvement in health, education, and other powers not delegated to it)
In other words, things the Republican Party USED to stand for, as recently as 12-15 years ago. Is there anyone like that anymore?
Rudy's newest marriage may have altered his stance on certain issues. His former wife Donna Hanover was a real beaut.
When my husband and I married he was a liberal but he married into an ultra-conservative family. After a few discussions with, my incredibly bright, Dad he came around. Now he's probably the most vocal conservative in the family and on a mission to turn around our very liberal, Harvard educated, lawyer daughter-in-law. He's got his work cut out for him.
My point is: everyone can see the light.
"I'll support RG as long as he puts people like Roberts and Scalia on the Court."
"I think there is plenty of evidence that he won't do that."
I give you Giuliani's own words this weekend that he WOULD appoint judges like Roberts and Alito:
Following is a transcript of Mayor Giulianis address today to the SC GOPs executive committee in Columbia, South Carolina, with regard to the mayors judicial philosophy:
On the Federal judiciary I would want judges who are strict constructionists because I am. Im a lawyer. Ive argued cases in the Supreme Court. Ive argued cases in the Court of Appeals in different parts of the country. I have a very, very strong view that for this country to work, for our freedoms to be protected, judges have to interpret not invent the Constitution. Otherwise you end up, when judges invent the constitution, with your liberties being hurt. Because legislatures get to make those decisions and the legislature in South Carolina might make that decision one way and the legislature in California a different one. And thats part of our freedom and when thats taken away from you thats terrible. President Bush has the great model because I think as the President he did appointed (sic) some really good ones and both of them are former colleagues of mine - Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito. Justice Scalia is a former colleague of mine. Somebody that
I think Chief Justice Roberts is a great chief justice and hes young and he can have a long career and thats probably the reason the President and Vice President chose him. I think those are the kinds of justices I would appoint Scalia, Alito and Roberts. If you can find anybody as good as that, you are very, very fortunate.
Those are the "unelectable" ones. Charles, you ought to know that Satan runs this world and the Lizard Queen will win it all in '08.
Well said. Its going to be a tough pill to swallow initally, but the alternative (Clinto Part Deux) is just so awful it makes my stomach turn.
LOL......did he include himself in that explanation?
Because we have posted over and over again when the committee realized the oversight, the corrected it. Sorry you didn't read it.
I am being snippy and I admit it after the last week of nothing but snide remarks and half truths by some posters.

Wow, the democrat field is HUGE. Oh, wait a minute...
"Good.....now how about Newt?"
September at the earliest. Right now we are in Silly Season.
"The Rudybots are coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Save it for the Democrats.
Very true. Lots of snide remarks from everyone.
But I never post anything I can't hard link.
Thanks. I've not read it. I've stayed away from the Rudy threads.
Are you trying to ruin their fun? :-)
You forgot to add drag queen.
"Rudy is too liberal, but his RINOdom is as nothing compared to McCain. McCain is still trading at 38% probability of the GOP nomination at Intrade."
McCain is the absolute worst kind of RINO- an unstable renegade RINO who likes to rub his RINOness in the face of conservatives and ask them how they like it (e.g. Gang of 14, McCain-Kennedy Bill).
Rudy is a team player- he wants to be liked by conservatives and I think he will be getting some religion as the campaign wears on. And he is at heart a strong leader with a law-and-order disposition.
