On a dark and snowy night in March 1985, the Baltimore Colts franchise was loaded into a bunch of Mayflower moving trucks and headed to Indy.
I'm sure there is quite a bit of amnonsity left in some fans minds.
Not a problem because we've gone through the same thing here!!!!!!
Only difference Baltimore didn't fall off the face of the earth just because there was no professional football there for FOURTEEN(yes 14)years. The fans didn't go in front of Congress to cry about losing a FOOTBALL TEAM, as is what happened here. Baltimore survived without football. In Cleveland everyone cried for the three whole years there wasn't football here.
What happened next will tell you how I feel about football in this town. After the voters in this city approved extending the "sin tax" already in place to build the new stadium, instead of the fans saying no NFL, we're not buying tickets for 3 years. You run the team and provide tickets to charitable organizations(at Art Modell's expense), them even if the team went 0-48, after three years we're buying tickets again(but not PSL's)and then you transfer tem to an new owner.
BUT NO
as soon as it was announced the team was coming back in 1999, the sheeple........excuse me "fans" went crawling back, PSL AND SEASON ticket money in hand, and 7 years later, the NFL still laughs at the city for that.
Just like they did in B-More, I didn't need football back here. I NEVER voted for the tax increase, and it will be a cold day in hell before I EVER pay for the opportunity to buy tickets for an NFL game.

13-3 and a Superbowl appearance is a pretty good first full year.

Cking in to say congrats to Colt fans!
BTW, how did you guys like Prince's halftime show? Did he get good reviews from Freepers?
(I loved it!)

Prince received good reviews at Mad_Tom's household. Freeper response was mostly positive. Good game today.

Indeed!!!!
When Cedric Benson left the game injured, Lovie didn't have the 2-headed monster option open anymore and unfortunately forced Rex to throw the football more than they wanted to.
Thomas Jones had a fine game, but in those conditions, he needs to run the ball more than 19 times.
Rex will be fine, Bears fans. You need to keep TJ an Benson in the backfield. Hopefully and older Berrian can take some pressure off of Mushin, which in turn helps Rex with two guns to go to.
Your strength is the D, even though with injuries it didn't look that way the last few games, and with Devon Hester returning kicks.

Thanks! I was rooting for the Bears tho.
(man, why hasn't Prince aged like me? lol)

That's it? Irsay bought the team and he's a demon? I don't get it. The way people talk about him it sounds more like he was a gangster.

who's Rex? "Train Rex" Grossman. He's the Bears QB. If the Bears had won, he would have been the worst QB to ever win the Super Bowl (based on his regular season passer rating).

Not me. I don't think that(the team has been in the Irsay family SINCE the b-more days, so he moved the team to Indy, much like Modell moved the Browns to B-more). To me it was in both instances a business move and when you're the owner, that is your prerogative, even if it may not be in the best interests of all involved.
I'm happy for them, they deserved it!!!

Oh OK....so B-more did a smear campaign on him for moving them. I get it. Sour grapes.
I wonder why he moved them.

Parade in Downtown Indy sometime between 430-530pm Monday... Isn't it nice watching a City celebrate a National Championship without burning the City down???My thoughts exactly and I'm planning on driving down from Anderson tomorrow to celebrate.

"BTW, how did you guys like Prince's halftime show? Did he get good reviews from Freepers?" LOL, I could never even have imagined the fact that this "Prince" character could put in a better performance at a Superbowl game than this poor guy Grossman,
I sure wouldn't want to be him right now......Talk about having a bad day !...I hear the mob thinks Grossamn "threw the game", "took a dive", "choked the chicken", "set up the bookie"...etc

Yes it is a pretty good first year -- the Rex-bashers are morons. The Bears lost this game because their defense was terrible and so was their offensive line.
Too bad for Rex that the Colts' defense wasn't as accommodating as the Bears' was to Indy. The announcers even finally pointed out how far off the line the Bears' defenders were - enabling Peyton to stack up free completions. Grossman could have had an impressive night too if the Colts had used Chicago's scheme.
