But in a GOP presidential field in which cultural and religious conservatives may find something to object to in every candidate who could really get nominated (and, more important, elected)

The same types hid under their beds because Reagan was once divorced. We have many of them to thank for 11/06.

NARAL "Champions of Choice Lunch"
The Yale Club, Thursday, April 5th, 2001

As Delivered

Thank you very much for inviting me to say a few words of welcome. This event shows that people of different political parties and different political thinking can unite in support of choice. In doing so, we are upholding a distinguished tradition that began in our city starting with the work of Margaret Sanger and the movement for reproductive freedom that began in the early decades of the 20th century.

As a Republican who supports a woman's right to choose, it is particularly an honor to be here.

I see the bashers are here already. I don't say much on these threads cause I don't give a damn about someone's opinion of my opinion on who to vote for, but Rudy's my choice till I see something better.

The democrats are chomping at the bit with hope that Rudy, McCain or Romney will be the MSM and RNC choice for POTUS as any of the three will lose.

"who object to his three marriages and his support for abortion rights, gay unions, and curbs on gun ownership..."

Unfortunately for Giuliani, all of that is very eye-opening.

Well, I for one will vote for the best candidate.

However, all the Sack Cloth and Ashes rhetoric may be for not come a few years from now if we let the Dimocrats take full charge.

I just read on another thread where the Brits are all aflutter because a few scumbag terrorists Muslims want to behead a few of their countrymen.

I believe many here on FR tried to tell these ignorant asses years ago that their stupid immigration policies would eventually backfire on them.

Well no matter who we elect if the Commander and Chief doesn't stand up for America then we will be dealing with this crap on a daily basis.

I don't like Rudys social policies as I believe it is a sin to have an abortion or a relationship outside of a man and wife marriage.

However, I believe that Rudy would be the stronger electable person to lead this country in such times of turmoil.

I like Duncan Hunter as a candidate but he may not have the financial support to beat a Two Bit Hustler like Osamma Obamma or a down right Beach like Hellary Clinton come 2008.

Just some random thoughts.

When Giuliani recognizes the 2nd amendment and admits he's been wrong and that the amendment guarantees an individual's right to bear arms, then, I'll consider him as possibly a conservative. Until then, he's just another NYC leftist barely distinguishable from Hilary.

Thanks! Lots of interesting material. I am not really sold on Rudy just yet because of a variety of his positions, but tend to reflexively stand up for someone who looks decent when he is hysterically bashed whenever his name is mentioned.

Bookmarking for when this ends up in the Smoky Backroom...
