The most deadly improvised explosive devices being used against U.S. soldiers in Iraq continue to come from Iran, and Iran continues to provide more tactical training, according to explosive experts working with the U.S. military.
The Iranian-made devices are known as EFPs, or Explosively Formed Projectiles. When exploded, the copper disc center becomes a molten liquid bullet that can penetrate the thickest armor the United States has.
Earlier this month, CIA Director General Michael Hayden told the Senate Select Intelligence Committee that the EFPs from Iran cause more casualties on an incident-for-incident basis than any other type of improvised explosive device.

A major reason why maintaining the peace is so difficult is because the insurgents in Iraq receive funding, equipment, and training from Iran.
Our unwillingness to expand the conflict emboldens them and allows them to maintain logistics in Iran without fear of those supplies getting hit.
If we hit Iran, and hit them hard we will significantly disrupt their supply chain, and their ability to organize.
It won't make the attacks go away. But it will weaken their forces and their effectiveness.
We need enough ground forces to hit their nuclear program, and hold the sites long enough to destroy their capabilities. This is not a small task, but it isn't going to tke hundreds of thousands of people on the ground either.
We also want to take out as much of the Iranian regime as possible. We should do to instill fear in other despots, as well as to punish those despots for attacking Americans.
If you show willingness to attack those who attack you, you will face far fewer attacks. However, if we send the message we have been sending that our enemies, such as Iran don't need to fear direct attacks because they have us tied up in an unpopular war in Iraq, then they will continue to attack us and undermine our efforts.
We need to put an end to such despots thinking they can attack us and not be met with an overwhelming response.
We don't need to hold territory in Iran for an extended period of time. We need to hit their nuclear facilities, and kill or drive their rulers deep into hiding, and if any who survive ever stick their heads up again, we need to go after them again. Don't treat them like political adversaries, treat them like the murderous criminals they are for ordering the capture and execution of Americans.
""Let's see if the brave Democrat party operatives running the legislative branch have the balls to take them on.
I think the RATS are more likely to squat and pee and don't think for a minute the ragheads don't know it.
Google "Explosively formed penetrator", "Explosively formed projectile", and "Munroe effect" ... the web has numerous articles on shaped charges and EFPs.
When exploded, the copper disc becomes a molten liquid bullet, traveling at high velocity (typically 1500-2000 m/s), that can penetrate armor. They have been around for about 30 years.
"The Senate Democrats had a hearing today....asking law professors if they have a legal right to get control of the Iraq war from Pres. Bush...
They also wanted information about if they have the right to stop Bush from going to war with Iran. '
The President is the commander in chief and if need be he does have the military to override the so-called law professors, traitors and RATS.
No expert here but I would presume it has a lot to do with temperature and momentum.
Shaped charge; it's an old technology. Look at an RPG for an example.
This is something a little better engineered than a conventional shaped-charge explosive. Here is the Wikipedia entry. They are allegedly of Iranian manufacture now although the original design appears to have been Russian.
You are right of course, but the power of the purse can turn victory into defeat. How about a 2,000,000 genocide in SE asia.
If this is so easy then why do we use the high-density spent uranium to penetrate armor?
casus belli
We need to beat the shit out of somebody before we forget how.
And they will pay with the downfall of their disgusting little cabal.
FU loser!!!
That phrase is "Casus belli".
If you are going to be so emotional and abrasive, use the correct phrase please.
