The most deadly improvised explosive devices being used against U.S. soldiers in Iraq continue to come from Iran, and Iran continues to provide more tactical training, according to explosive experts working with the U.S. military.
The Iranian-made devices are known as EFPs, or Explosively Formed Projectiles. When exploded, the copper disc center becomes a molten liquid bullet that can penetrate the thickest armor the United States has.
Earlier this month, CIA Director General Michael Hayden told the Senate Select Intelligence Committee that the EFPs from Iran cause more casualties on an incident-for-incident basis than any other type of improvised explosive device.

"Made in Iran"
More likely Made in Russia. The big question here as has been throughout this war is the will to end it. In other words if Iranian commandos are doing this then a populated area should be picked in Iran and nuclear weaponry dispensed. Repeat this process until they beg on their knees for us to stop - then once more for good measure. Collateral damage should not be fretted about, discussed, or alluded to. Our current "civilised" effort is getting our people killed needlessly.
How dare the President threaten those helpful Iranians???
The Senate Democrats had a hearing today....asking law professors if they have a legal right to get control of the Iraq war from Pres. Bush...
They also wanted information about if they have the right to stop Bush from going to war with Iran.
I would say the Democrats have answered your question.
To add to my last rant. For those who say nuclear weapons will not deter Islamofascists, then google "Defeat of Japanese Empire". The several hundred or so firebombings of every city in Japan did not convince them, but it seems two devices deployed at the end of the conflict convinced even the most ardent Japanese fighting man.
They can penetrate pretty much any kind of bodyarmor - but not all vehicle armor.
March 6, 2006 U.S. military and intelligence officials tell ABC News that they have caught shipments of deadly new bombs at the Iran-Iraq border.
They are a very nasty piece of business, capable of penetrating U.S. troops' strongest armor.
What the United States says links them to Iran are tell-tale manufacturing signatures certain types of machine-shop welds and material indicating they are built by the same bomb factory.
"The signature is the same because they are exactly the same in production," says explosives expert Kevin Barry. "So it's the same make and model."

Naah, it's their 'Rat pals Nancy and Harry and Teddy and Plugs-y and Hillary and Barak-y etc. etc. etc. that we don't want to upset. Not to mention their media pals Katie and Chrissy and Keithie, and their commie pals Medea and Cindy and Mikie ...
To all the "teach the bums a lesson" pseudo-conservatives who stayed home on November 7th to "send a message" to the Republicans: THANKS FOR NOTHING, A$$HATS.
Thanks Jimmy Carter for making this terrorist regime in Iran possible.
And yes, the US is the "parriah nation." Go shake hands with the Iranian terrorists again John Kerry, you friggin' traitor.
Most likely human intelligence sources coupled with forensics on the IED/UXO.
That sounds like war to me. The Democrats will prevent anything that actually hurts Iran. You forgot the majority party in Congress in on Iran's side in this one.
I had been thinking of posting an appeal to someone knowledgeable, to either confirm or deny my suspicion that this technology came from our good friends (sarc) in Russia.
Calm down folks!
Shaped charges are nothing new! Old armor piercing RPGs often use the same technique.
The USA has smart bomblets and all sorts of mean little devices that fly around looking for tanks and stuff to destroy with this same technique.
Of course, none of the ragheads have any armor to pierce at this point, so they have to use this type weapon to get at us while we can kill them with plain old 223 rounds.
Chill out!
I don't follow this; how can a metal of such low density penetrate steel armor? Somebody here with an expert background please answer this question.

Thanks for getting in here and providing some sanity vs. the hair pulling! LOL!
