Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.
Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.
Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.
Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?
Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?
Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?
Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?
Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

Who are you to insult this man who stood out there yesterday for all of us who didn't show up?
You need to find another thread, pal.

YES!!! After a year of pain and surgery, his lower right leg was amputated in November.
HE WAS THERE!
As a matter of fact, he convinced the commies to let him speak at the Navy War Memorial in the morning. Then we went to lunch and headed to the park to fight off the commies.
He was then attending the show Gary Sinese gave last night for our troops.
The commies had movie "stars" and politicians ... we had a couple dozen FReepers and soldiers. Pathetic!!!

As in all the old media reports "Tens of Thousands" would have to mean more than 10,000,because tens is plural,so it couldn't be 10,000.
It would have to be 20,000 at least.
I agree with Kristinn and the old media.

Yea, where can a soldier
"Say your piece on TV or radio." Sounds like you are a cut, run & surrender type of guy when you say: "Why put your self in a situation that could have been WAY worse than it ended up."
Again, I say, Sounds like you are a cut, run & surrender type of guy when we have to slink away from those bent on destroying America you say:"What's your definition of Martyrdom??"

I will also admit that I don't go out of town a lot when I have a son deployed. YOU shouldn't have to!!! Your family has done quite enough to defend our country. It is time for others to step up to the plate!

Amen. Thanks to all you were able to stand with you against the radical left who are trying to pull off another coup like they pulled off during the Vietnam war.
If I wasn't 1,000 + miles away, I would have been there for sure.
Between John Kerry on foreign soil, calling America a Pariah in the world, and Hanoi Jane doing her anti-war thing in D.C. once again, I will be AMAZED if the Vietnam vets allow them to get away with this once again. bttt

If I could have afforded it,I would have been there.I am sure I would have needed some serious bail money if I had witnessed that.I was in the US Army Infantry when she pulled that sh!t posing with her friends on that anti-aircraft gun.She is nothing but an admitted slut.Born to a good man,and she cry's the blues about having no love.If I were her father,I would not want anything to do with her at all.Her name makes my blood pressure peak.I too,am sorry for not being there.I live in Texas,so she better stay in the blue country where she is idolized.I could make it to a"Peace Rally"in Texas though. She is not that stupid to try that here.
To: Arizona Carolyn
Absolutely. But we tried on Saturday. Several threads about this rally show "The Traitor" in her dishonor.

Thanks to you and your husband for the sacrifices you make for us. It's not your job to defend yourself here - that's what we (the beneficiaries of your husband's service) are supposed to be doing. We are supposed to have your backs over here - but sadly, we are doing a pee-poor job.

"It is about time the American people woke the hell up and quit blaming everything on President Bush and expecting him to handle every dang detail of wars...at home and abroad!
When the communists manage to facilitate a Vietnam redux we won't have to worry about money, TV or beer!"
...agreed. KIAs over the past few years are unprecedentedly low. Our President is quite fit to lead our nation in war, but most civilians here are vain and unwilling to support him.
So we "neo-cons" might be put in our place. We might get a choice between Hillary and a religious identity, socially libertine RINO, who would follow orders from Hillary's horde of "progressives." Meanwhile, we could build fallout shelters in rural getaways and look forward to a future with less money but also with far fewer "progressives."

LOL... I wish you could read your self.
Let me try it another way...
Would any of the troops that went to this thing, run head strong into a regiment of enemy combatants? No. They would do it a little smarter wouldn't they?!!
Being stand up is one thing, being stupid is something else.

This is a DC Chapter after-action report and should at least be listed in the Activism/Chapters category -- or is too hot a topic to give much visibility to it?

Opeds are a wonderful thing, marching in support of our troops is a wonderful thing, supporting your country is a wonderful thing. Problem is most people are to confounded by their own lives to have time to march. The left grabs up people whom have nothing better to do. But that is no excuse, most people on this blog seem to have an understanding that something big is coming. Not if but when it hits, I wonder who will those who spit on troops, threaten them, and call them murderers look to to defend their rights to do these hideous things.
Now for the good news, when the Islamic horde comes knocking on our shores, these same cowards will be the among the first to turn themselves in and will be the first to have their heads removed. So rest easy and do not be consumed by anger. Their day of reckoning is sooner than they think.

Just being realistic, dude. We've seen this pattern before and we'll see it again, no matter what we do.
It doesn't take a Freeper Village; it takes a crisis.

fyi, if "B" is right, maybe the WaPost & the NY Slimes is technically correct. in this particular case, 20,000 is TWO "tens of thousands". (LOL!)
imVho, ANYTHING printed by either RAG is SUSPECT, at BEST! and a DAMNED LIE at usual.
