The battle of the cable news networks rages on, and gets funnier and funnier by the minute. In this latest installment, a Fox News spokesperson has deliciously disparaged one of CNNs biggest stars.
As reported by the New York Times (emphasis mine throughout):
A Fox News spokeswoman, Irena Briganti, said CNN was mainly looking for publicity in attacking its higher-rated rival. Of Mr. Coopers comment, she said, Yet another cry for attention by the Paris Hilton of television news, Anderson Cooper.
What was this recent fracas about? Youll never guess:
A disputed report on the Web site of a conservative magazine about Senator Barack Obamas childhood schooling kicked off a pointed exchange this week between the rival cable news networks CNN and Fox News, when CNN seemed to make an overt effort both to debunk the report and to question the quality of Fox Newss journalism.
The original report, posted on the online version of Insight, a magazine owned by The Washington Times, said that as a child in Indonesia, Mr. Obama had attended a madrassa, a school that teaches a radical version of the Muslim faith. Mr. Obama, who spent a few years in Jakarta as a boy, is a Christian.
Adding to the political volatility of the report was the attribution of the news to researchers connected to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Figures. Of course, the Clinton News Network never likes any bad press about the former first couple from Arkansas, and felt the need to defend Hillarys honor:
In comments after Mr. Vauses report, the CNN anchors Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper seemed to chide others for not practicing legitimate journalism on the story. CNN did what any serious news organization is supposed to do in this kind of a situation, Mr. Blitzer said. We actually conducted an exclusive firsthand investigation inside Indonesia to check out the school.
Mr. Cooper said: Thats the difference between talking about news and reporting it. You send a reporter, check the facts, and you decide at home.
This almost reads like a script from Saturday Night Live, doesnt it? Of course, also comical is how the Times completely ignored Keith Olbermanns involvement in the dispute as reported by NewsBusters here and here.
Have the Times editors finally realized how irrelevant this gross caricature of a newsman is? Stay tuned.
Do you really think he would be caught in public without panties on?
Do we know whether or he wears "drive in" panties?
CNN has spent decades smearing Israel, her leaders, citizens, and soldiers.
And have spent 6 years doing the same to the United States.
All the while protecting Dims, tyrants, terrorists and their Islamic Cult leaders, while posing as journalists.
They can go to hell.
This is going to far.
Fox News must issue an immediate apology to Paris Hilton.
I don't get what this whole madrassa thing was about, other than a hit piece. Madrassa is just the Arabic word for school. It can be anything from a regular school to the hard-core indoctrination camps famous in Pakistan. Indonesia is mostly Muslim, so I can see why that word was used.
They probably would if they could only figure out how exactly one apologizes to someone of general level. It could be a while.
I don't think Paris Hilton ever thought that the murder of an American soldier was her ticket to higher ratings. Anderson Cooper has lost this viewer forever.
We need to start an Irena Briganti fan club..How can we contact her...get a pic?
Does this mean that Cooper is 'Commando'?
I'm thinking some enterprising FReeper with photoshop skills could use this opportunity to give Mr. Anderson a "makeover".
Isn't that the same DNCNN that had one of their Baghdad workers cut into pieces and dumped on her parents yard, that they covered up??
Insult to Paris, she would never do the things Cooper Scooper will do.
Pray for W and Our Troops
When are these news media cowards going to own up to the fact that Hillary's campaign is putting out junk on Obama?
Great work ex.
Has anyone asked him why he changed his name from Barry Soetoro to Barack Hussein Obama?
I think it's clear that CNN is just out to score points with the Bush-hating liberals. CNN and MSNBC are not even close to being a viable alternative to Fox News. Regardless of Bush's poll ratings, Fox News is still the best place for conservatives to get news, without all the sappy Anderson Coopers and far-left Olbermann's of the world getting in the way of the facts.
Excellent investigation. Good question about why Obama's mother married ANOTHER muslim, after Obama's dad. Obviously he was raised muslim. Another good question is why does CNN simply parrot Obama's "response" and then say "case closed, Fox News is bad". The real scandal is why the MSM is covering for Hillary, if it's her staffer that is the source.
Anyone realize that Anderson Cooper is the son of Gloria Vanderbilt?????
The answer is quite clear is it not. :-)
I don't get what this whole madrassa thing was about, other than a hit piece. Madrassa is just the Arabic word for school. It can be anything from a regular school to the hard-core indoctrination camps famous in Pakistan. Indonesia is mostly Muslim, so I can see why that word was used."
The only way I have ever heard the word Madrassa used is in reference to "schools" where the MALE- only male- "students" are required to sit at wood tables on wood benches 16 hours a day and bob back and forth reciting the Islam radical version of the teachings of the Koran.
They teach no other subject- no math- no spelling- no languages- no usable skills in the adult world, but they also do teach terrorist tactics, etc.
I think calling all schools in the Muslim world "Madrassa" is a coverup. I don't trust a single word out of a Muzzie's mouth, except that they wish to kill all non-Muzzies: ie: Infidels....We are all Infidels to them, and they want us all dead. They are not negotiating this topic.
